Merrie Grace grew up sharing the same backyard as Mickey and Minnie and would love to extend a neighborhood invitation to you! Consider adding Disney to the beginning or end of your trip and turn our wedding weekend into a truly “Minnie” vacation. Experience the magic that makes Orlando world-famous. Bonus: October is a perfect time to visit Disney because it’s considered the off season, which means smaller crowds and shorter wait times.
Disney Springs is a great place to visit if you want a taste of Disney magic without the theme park ticket prices. It's a free, open-air destination made up of walkable neighborhoods where you can eat, shop, and enjoy a relaxing stroll outdoors.
The West Orange Trail is one of Luis and Merrie Grace’s favorite date activities when they’re in Orlando. This 24-mile paved biking trail runs through the heart of downtown Winter Garden, a charming, Hallmark-like town filled with delicious restaurants, cozy coffee shops, museums, a multi-vendor artisan market, and a popular farmers market held every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you decide to explore the trail by bike, be sure to stop by the Oakland Nature Preserve. This 150-acre preserve features a free interactive museum and a scenic boardwalk that leads to beautiful views of Lake Apopka. Along the way, keep an eye out for some of Florida’s iconic wildlife, including alligators, birds, and other native species.
Wekiwa Springs State Park is a perfect place to experience natural Florida, just 20 minutes from downtown Orlando. You can rent canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, or bikes and explore the area’s beautiful scenery. Merrie Grace has never paddled the river without spotting an alligator. It’s an easy, relaxing outdoor activity that offers a chance to enjoy Florida’s wildlife and natural beauty.
Merrie Grace and Luis love exploring this charming downtown and chose to celebrate here after securing their wedding venue. If you’re looking for a delicious meal or a great spot to enjoy a cocktail, some local favorites (shoutout to the Mazons) include The Table, The Elusive Grape, Pho Company Noodle House, Boston Coffeehouse, Persimmon Hollow, Bake Chop, Cress Restaurant, and DeLand Cocktail Company.
De Leon Springs State Park is a quintessential slice of natural and historic Florida. The park is centered around a crystal-clear spring perfect for swimming, kayaking, and relaxing. It's a perfect place to unwind either before or after our wedding. Entry costs $6 per vehicle (two to eight people) or $4 for a single-occupant vehicle.
If you venture into De Leon Springs State Park, the Old Sugar Mill Pancake House is a must-do. This is a place Merrie Grace remembers fondly from her childhood because you can make your own pancakes and cook your own eggs on a built-in griddle at your table. It's a perfect place to fill-up on food and good memories.
