Merrie Grace and Luis met in July 2020 after Merrie Grace moved to College Station, Texas, to complete her Speech Therapy fellowship. A mutual friend (shoutout to Taelor!) introduced them, and Luis knew almost immediately that Merrie Grace was someone special. Merrie Grace took a little longer to sort out her feelings, but Luis remained patient, kind, and consistent. Over the next year, their friendship grew into love. Merrie Grace admired Luis’ unwavering character, generous heart, and ability to bring people together. Before long, her friend became her first boyfriend. When Luis moved away to begin medical school, the challenges of long distance and Merrie Grace’s desire to travel eventually led them to part ways. Though they went their separate directions, neither truly forgot the other. Three years later, a mutual wedding invitation brought them back into contact. What started as a phone call quickly became something more. During that conversation, Luis admitted, “I think about you more than I probably should.” After more than a year of long-distance calls, messages, and rediscovering the love they never truly lost, Merrie Grace and Luis found their way back to each other. Now, they are excited to begin the next chapter of their story together.
