Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Oakland/Alameda

This hotel in Alameda is on a main street with several shops, bars, and restaurants. It has free parking and is a ten minute car ride to the venue. Parking at the venue is $15, and a ride-share to and from would be only slightly more than that. All rooms have a sitting area and mini kitchenette. Rates are about $200/night

Jack London Inn

This hotel is a six-minute walk to the venue. Jack London Square also has a bunch of great restaurants and bars. It's a safe area but it's near some neighborhoods that are somewhat sketchier, so pay attention to your surroundings and you'll be fine. The hotel is definitely no-frills, but it is clean and safe, and their rates are around $100/night (however, they do charge for parking).

Train

BART: Lake Merritt Station

The Lake Merritt stop is a 3 minute ride or 15 minute walk to the venue, and is the closest Bart station to both hotels. Trains stop running around midnight. BART goes to both SFO (long ride) and OAK (extra fee).

Flight

Oakland International Airport

Highly recommended over SFO, as it's a smaller airport and transportation to/from the hotels will be much faster and less expensive (unless you take BART).

The Oakland - Jack London Square Station is basically across the street from the venue.

Travel Note

Take a Ferry

There are several ferry stations nearby which are great options for traveling into San Francisco without worrying about parking in the city. It's a pretty ride, and there are drinks and snacks available onboard. There is a station in Jack London Square, and two in Alameda: the Seaplane station is faster but only runs during weekdays. The Main Street station runs seven days and stops in Jack London Square as well.
