Lea’s perspective : An inconvenient car accident (no one was injured). I was on the way to a rec soccer game (already a little late) when I was rear-ended almost immediately after leaving the house. Big sigh. I don’t like other people denting Luna. Taking photos, exchanging information, deciding not to call the police, blah blah blah and now I am very late to this game. I sent a text to my friends to let them know why I was behind but figured no one would see it. They would’ve been well into the first half. The league we played in also had a rule that required all teams to have two girls on the field at all times. I knew that without me they would likely be playing down. Speeding-not-speeding to the field as past as I legally could I got there just at half time, apologizing profusely. Everyone seemed understanding and was just happy I was okay, except the one girl on the team I hadn’t met before. Without me, she had spent the first half sprinting around the field trying to make up for my absence. My bad….she forgave me decently quickly though and the team enjoyed a nice cold beverage at the bar afterwards. Sitting on the benches I noticed the angry girl looked cute in her white tshirt. She softened towards me and started throwing little pieces of paper off the bottle label into my beer. She has continued smiling at me ever since. Mer’s perspective : After about a year of branching out from soccer onto other sports because my team disbanded, a friend of mine invited me to his team because they had lacked female players. It was a younger team and more competitive than I had been used to in recent years, but I was excited to play again. This particular day, it was just Lea and myself coming to the game. So we had enough to play, but no subs. As everyone is aware at this point, Lea never shows up anywhere on time ;) but this game she left the whole team down one player short which meant my old butt had to sprint around the field with no break. Come halftime, I am FUMING mad in my head at this girl who couldn't bother to show up on time. But of course, then she pops up and starts to put on her things, big smile on her face, and said "sorry I'm late guys, I got in a fender bender on the way" which made me even more upset because I was no longer allowed to be mad at her and also who shows up late from a car accident with a smile still on her face?! Long story short, I can't remember how the rest of the game went or how it even ended, but I do remember being entranced by the pretty girl who came with a shockingly good attitude after all that had happened to her that past hour. And she's continued to surprise me in all the best ways every day since. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
