Zolo and Mercedes' first date was at Cross Ranch State Park in central North Dakota. Zolo packed a picnic with a bottle of wine. They hammocked and talked for hours. They connected on their mutual passion for travel, adventure, and cooking. Zolo is in the US Air Force and has lived all over the US and has even been stationed in the Middle East. Mercedes has traveled all over the world doing service work in Uganda, Peru, Colombia, and Guatemala, and road-tripped across the US in a van for a year before starting medical school. Their love story has been full of laughs, adventure, and great food. From hiking into a backwoods cabin in Canada to canoeing into a campsite in Minnesota (and Mercedes catching the biggest fish- let the record show ;)) they have fun whether they’re going on a neighborhood walk or traveling across the country to visit family in Florida, Arizona, California, or Nebraska. Another big part of their relationship has been becoming parents! God blessed them with a son, Koah. Throughout this journey, Zolo has been the most supportive partner to Mercedes and has been the best dad! Mercedes has been a rockstar finishing up her last year of medical school, while also being pregnant, giving birth, and adjusting to being a new mom.
