Ronald Reagan National Airport

Reagan is only an 8 minute drive from the Wharf where our wedding events will be held. While we recommend catching an Uber or reserving a car pickup, the metro, DC's public transportation train system, also has a stop at Reagan and a stop just under .6 miles from the Wharf. If you fly into Reagan, you shouldn’t need a rental car to get around, unless your plans take you out to the suburbs!

Washingtin Dulles International Airport

Dulles in the closet international airport to Washington, D.C. and the largest airport in the area. There are many ways to get from Dulles to DC, below are some options and price estimates. Public Bus: 55 min., $3 Taxi: 35 min., $90 Uber: 35 min., $50-$90 depending on time of day and standard v. UberXL.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)

BWI is a 45 min drive (without traffic) from The Wharf. An Uber will likely cost $60-$90, depending on the time of day and UberX v. UberXL. There is also a bus the will take you from the Airport to the MARC train, which will take you to Union Station in DC, and then you can Uber/Metro from there. Tickets for the MARC train should be purchased in advance and are $7. The trip will take 40 min.

Easy Ways to Get Around

There are several get-around options in the DC area. Rental cars and taxis are readily available at the airport, and you can (almost) always get an Uber. Unless your plans will take you into the suburbs, we recommend avoiding the rental cars and using ubers or public transportation to get around the city, as parking can be tight, expensive, and scarce. There is parking at the hotels on the Wharf. At the Intercontinental, parking is valet only and $60 a day, although there is a discount for the day of the wedding. The metro is also easily accessible, but you will need to purchase a hard metro card from one of the station information desks before you can add funds to take the train.

DC Metro

The metro is DC's main public transportation system. There are stops throughout DC and Alexandria, including one very close to the church and hotel hosting the reception (L'Enfant Plaza).

Southwest Wharf Shuttle

The Southwest Wharf, where all 3 hotels with room blocks are located, has its own free neighborhood shuttle. The shuttle picks up in front of the CVS on the street side of the Intercontinental Hotel. This shuttle is free and stops at L’Effant Plaza (the closest metro stop to the Wharf), the National Mall (where the monuments and the museums are located), and the Spy Museum.

We have a room block at this hotel, located just 350 ft from the Intercontinental. This hotel also has several larger rooms, including multi-room suites.
