Our Story

25. November. 2020

As Told by Melyssa... When I first saw Ness on Tik-Tok, I instantly had a crush and started following her. We had friends in common, so it was bound to happen that we would end up becoming friends. Everyone knew I had the HUGEST crush on her, but her and I never talked about it. Bump was our main mutual friend and would push for us to talk, and be our "in-between man". I couldn't even be on FaceTime with Ness without Bump because I was so nervous! Fast forward and I went up to my mom's in Oregon for Thanksgiving in 2020 and that's when my mom and I convinced Ness to fly from California to Oregon to meet us. She did! She bought a ticket to fly into Boise, Idaho just to drive 3 hours with us to Pendleton, Oregon (which this was the very first time she even met us, we could've been serial killers!!) to meet me in person and not back down from a dare, all for less than 20 hours, just to drive back to Boise and fly back to California so she could spending Thanksgiving with her family. And since than it's been a wrap. Lots of flights later, she moved out to Texas and we started our lives together. It hasn't always been easy or pretty, but everything life threw our way, we overcame. As Told by Vanessa... Meeting on TikTok, I never thought we'd be where we're at today. From when Melyssa first started liking my videos and then duetting them she made me nervous instantly. I remember being on FaceTime group chats because there was never a time she would be alone with me on the phone because she was too nervous. I thought it was super cute. Once we started talking I felt like I could talk to her forever. She made me feel so comfortable talking to her about anything and everything. She would never judge me and always made me feel special. Now, I am always up for a good dare so when her mother dared me to make a 24 hour turn around trip to fly out to Oregon the day before Thanksgiving, I just had to make it happen! Flying to Boise, ID and having to drive 3 hours to their home, just to spend what felt like only a couple hours just to make that drive back and fly back to California was definitely worth ever second! But boy was I nervous! Stepping off that plane and walking to meet her felt like 84 years, but the second I was in her arms I knew I was home. From that moment I knew this is who God had waiting for me. But I had no idea what the next two years had in store for us. All the fun and laughter and crazy partying all the time was like a honeymoon phase I didn't want to end. We've been through several deaths in our families over the years and even had some extremely rough patches of our own to deal with. But through it all I wouldn't ask to redo anything. Everything we have been through has made us so much stronger together and as a family. Everyday God has shown me that this woman is my forever and I couldn't ask him for anyone else to spend the rest of my life with!

The Proposal

19. January. 2023

As Told by Melyssa... I had a long day at work on January 19th. I didn't even get home 'til around 830 that night! Whereas normally, I'm home at the latest right around 8. I was on the phone with Ness but ended it when I parked in the garage. I walked out of the garage, and there she was waiting outside the door to the house. I thought that was so sweet, I figured she knew I needed a hug after such a long day. Boy was I in for a treat! She opened the door while telling me that Pickles and her had put something together for me to do that night. I looked down and saw a note explaining that I was to go on a scavenger hunt around the house. Each clue was super cute and tucked inside a ring box in various places in our home. The last one had me in our master bathroom with the task of calling my best friend on FaceTime to figure out what I needed to do next. I called Bump and she had me count to 10 out loud and then open the door to the bedroom. When I did, Ness was in front of me, and Pickles was recording on the other side of the room. Ness went on to ask me to be her Valentine and joked that I made it such a big deal with my Tik-Tok video. So I said I would be, but in my head I was like, all of this just to ask me to be her Valentine? Damn, I was hoping for a ring. Right as I finished that thought she continued on to say, not just this year but for forever before she got down on one knee and ask me to be her wife! I knew it was coming eventually since we've been discussing weddings, but I'm not sure why this shocked me. Of course I said yes through "misty eyes"! As Told by Vanessa... I had designed the ring and it felt like forever to have it crafted and delivered. Pickles was so excited to help me plan something perfect, something that Melyssa would love. Knowing she loves something that was thought out and from the heart, what better way than a fun treasure hunt. Instantly Pickles and I got to work trying to plan the perfect day and what better than a random day out of the week she would never expect. As soon as she went back to work from lunch we started preparing for the treasure hunt. I bought several ring boxes and put clues in each one leading to different parts of the house. The last clue lead her to the bathroom where she had to FaceTime our mutual friend, Bump, to give her the last clue, which was to walk back out of the bathroom to see how the hunt would end. I stood there when she opened the door and I felt like I couldn't speak for a minute because I was so nervous. I made her think I was just doing something special to ask her to be my Valentine. When she said yes, I then said I didn't want her to just be my Valentine for this year but for every year to come! I got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and asked her to Marry Me. As the tears filled her eyes she walked (Well almost ran and knocked me over) to kiss me and say YES!
