FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

As soon as possible, at LATEST 12/20/2024. The longer we have to plan, the better. The room blocks are reserved with a 3 day minimum. When you book, you can extend to a week. 90 days before the wedding (12/20) the room blocks will be released and the resort will absolutely book to capacity- this is spring break in a tropical locale! **Please also RSVP to individual events so we can plan!**

Question

What is the best way to use my cell phone?

Answer

Many cell phone services include believes with Mexico on free talk and text. T-Mobile is one of them. Make sure you check with your carrier to see if you have this option to add. If not, please download the WhatsApp. It is free worldwide and functions very well! Let Melysa know and she can send you an invite.

Question

How many days do I actually have to commit to for this event?

Answer

We have done our best to plan an awesome wedding week filled with events to do together, as well as for you to have your own free time. However, we totally understand if you only want to come for the wedding event itself! The resort does have a 3 night minimum to book. If this does not work for you, you are welcome to stay off property at the numerous excellent Airbnb and hotel options on the island.

Question

Is there a dress code/theme for the wedding?

Answer

Tropical black tie with a nod to Old Hollywood! Pretty please, no Hawaiian or loud print shirts (just for the wedding). Tropical neutral colors preferred. Think Sea, sun, palm trees, and conch shells, feathers, beads and sequins! Do it up!

Question

What is the weather like? What should I pack?

Answer

Weather in March on the island is at it's finest. 78-85 degrees all day and all night! It does get pretty windy, especially around sunset and into the evening. March has the least amount of annual rainfall. If it does rain, it is very short lived. Humidity is also pretty tolerable. However, keep in mind, water based hair products will not work! haha. Be aware there are mosquitos. On the beach and open area due to the wind, they are not very prolific. However, when standing still or off the beach, they are definitely present. As for attire- the theme of our wedding is Bougie island- think sea and sand colors with a 20's-30's opulence vibe. But the rest of the time is definitely island casual. The whole island is pretty casual. Hats, sunnies, flip flops and sandals. Bathing suit and cover-ups, Sundresses and flowy billowy palazzo pants for the ladies. For the men, hats, shorts, linen pants and shirts. Our friends from the west and east coasts shouldn't have to do much shopping at all!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If you are married, or have a significant other, they are included in the invite. Please respect that this is a small international event with a tight guest count due to ability/budget. If you would like to bring along someone that we do not know or have no relation to-you are welcome to bring them at their/your own expense for all events and meals, and if there are rooms to accommodate. Please contact Melysa for more info.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

To keep innocent and wondering child eyes innocent, we humbly request that no children under 18 be brought. Please respect and understand that the bride and groom have just 5 “incidental” children, and don’t feel betrayed about it 💜

Question

What is the currency and main language in Belize

Answer

Belize used to be British Honduras up until 1981. Because of this, the official language is English. The currency is simply “Belizean”. The set exchange rate is 2 to 1. So when you see the prices on menus, etc. the price would be cut in half to US dollars. But be aware, most things are already priced in USD, or the idea that you are paying in USD. If you are trying to get the most for your US dollar, the small roadside food kitchens, normally called delis are where it’s at as well as artisans with their homemade wares. But with those artisans, you’ll have to haggle and insist on Belizean!

Question

Is San Pedro safe? What is “town” like?

Answer

Too anyone that is not used to traveling in a developing country, San Pedro can often look a little “rundown”. Please don’t be nervous! The food is always fresh and the people always nice. You will experience a fair mix of “comfort” and things you are used to, and things that remind you that you are in another country. But isn’t that exactly why we travel? To experience different ways of life? Embrace it!

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Absolutely! Let us know! Also, for any Kosher requests! Please keep in mind though, that this is an island in a developing country, so the resort will definitely do their best, options may not be as extensive as other places.

Question

Where is the best place to shop for groceries and staples?

Answer

You have a full kitchen in your room at the resort! Take advantage! The resort can pre stock your kitchen with food upon request. Prices on the island for groceries and booze can often be quite expensive. This is due to the fact that everything has to come in on a boat to the island. The larger grocery stores while very comfortable and air conditioned often cater to Expats, and the prices definitely reflect that. I have found the best places to get fresh fruits and vegetables and to support the local community would be the small stands and hole in the walls on the sides of the road. Get yourself a coconut fresh from a tree with rum poured in it, or buy fresh mangoes, avocados, eggs, and other produce from these stands! My best super sneaky deal on the island for breakfast is a stuffed fry jack which is fry bread with eggs, cheese, bacon, and habaneros if that’s your style. Also, try the meat pies! They run about 8 Belize ($4usd!) If you must have cream cheese, or Oreos or American crackers or a frozen pizza? You can get those too, but just be prepared to pay $10 USD for those Oreos! Alcohol with no way around, is expensive! i.e. $70 USD for a bottle of Jose Cuervo. We recommend upon arrival that you buy from the duty-free at Belize Int'l before you get on your jumper flight to the island. You can purchase up to four bottles per person!

Question

How long will it take me to get to San Pedro in a golf cart?

Answer

15min going 10-15mph. In town traffic can get a little busy and smelly with all the gas from golf carts. Also, be prepared for bumpy roads, and slow traffic and many work trucks, as active building is happening on the island. But, take it with a grain of salt, it’s all part of the experience!

Question

Can I drink my own alcohol in common areas on the resort?

Answer

The answer to this is yes, but you need to be low key, and keep bottles and refills confined to your rooms. Think, in an opaque travel mug. This is due to liquor licensing, at the wedding event especially.
