Two jersey city kids that go way back since grammar school.... It all started during the 8th grade Spring Dance when Melvin asked Loren for a dance. It was an awkward exchange that led to a short lived "relationship" between two inexperienced preteens. As they both separately lived out their lives during high school and college, the two went on a date to Brooklyn during their junior years in college. It wasn't the smoothest date in Loren's eyes, as their date consisted of awkward moments when they were watching a movie or strolling around the city. Melvin's attempt to be with Loren didn't go as planned, and so the chance for a second date did not happen. When Loren and Melvin finally finished college, the two went out on a string of dates, an outing in turtle back zoo, dinner date in NYC, and walking along the JC waterfront. In their third date, Melvin, being more confident and aware of his past mistakes, asked Loren out to be his girlfriend. It was not the most romantic setting to be asked out as Loren scrapped her knee after running around the JC waterfront. But the two finally became exclusive!
Melvin had quite an ambitious plan for his engagement proposal. Being inspired by the movie "La La Land", Melvin planned out a vacation trip to the city of Angels (Los Angeles, California) where he would ultimately pop the question to Loren. During their stay, Loren and Melvin visited some locations shown in the film "La La Land" such as the Griffith Observatory, the restaurant where Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) and Mia (Emma Stone) first met, or the Hollywood sign. His intentions were cemented in asking THE QUESTION in one of the exhibits in the LACMA Museum called the Urban Lights. It was the perfect and romantic setting to ask especially during night time when the cluster of lights shine bright in the dark. Unfortunately, things didn't go the way Melvin envisioned and later on, ended up proposing back in their hotel. Melvin nervously proposed to Loren privately in the hotel as he was getting cold feet in doing it publicly in the LACMA. But after he poured out his heart and his true feelings to be with her forever, Loren ended up saying "YES"! It was certainly not the most romantic thing but his heart and intentions were there.
