Nat and Mel met in a magical place- the internet, on an app called Hinge! At the time, Melannie was dreaming of moving to New York City, and Nat was over seas living his own dream in Japan. The two chatted online quite a bit while Nat was there, and Melannie was flattered that he continued to keep in touch even though he was in one of the most amazing countries in the world with plenty to do! Nat eventually came back to Houston and slept off his jet lag. Melannie gave him one week to recover and then indirectly asked him to go on a date with her...though, he didn't realize that she was asking him out until severalllll text messages later, which resulted with him saying "oh, that was an invitation to hang out with you, wasn't it..." On June 26, 2018 , they first met at one of Mel’s go-to cocktail bars, Wooster's. At first, they were both super nervous, until they realized that they were the same brand of weird! After a few drinks, they went to 13 Celsius (another spot Mel loves for charcuterie and wine) where they had way too much to drink. They talked a lot about their experiences as musicians, where they grew up, connecting the dots on people they both knew and shortly after that, they realized that they were in the same place at the same time...way too many times, and never ran into each other! (In case you are wondering, it was Java Jazz. They were those teenage weirdos that watched screamo shows at a tiny hole in the wall grunge venue in Spring TX) Theu both attended many Zap Em Dead shows and shared similar memories from their last show. Everything about the two meeting in this moment felt so serendipitous. After one date, theu were together every week, and then every other day, and eventually theu were so addicted to each other, that they moved in together...puppies, plants, guitars and all. Melannie and Nat are so excited to celebrate with their loved ones this fall!
