Back in 2015, Alex set up an online dating profile, but quickly decided that online dating wasn't for him, and never went on a single date from the site. Fast forward three years and he receives an email, much like ones he's gotten before, that a girl named Melissa sent him a message. For some reason, he felt compelled to open it, and go back onto the site. Here's the problem... Alex let his subscription expire and couldn't even read her message. However, he decided to pay $30 to get a one month subscription in order to just read the message. After chatting online for a day or two, they agreed to meet at Caribou in Arden Hills on January 17th. When the day finally came, it couldn't have gone better. The three hour date flew by in what felt by seconds. And, as they say, the rest is history.
On the morning of the September 15th, Alex drove to Melissa's apartment at 5am and woke her up. They walked to Lake Calhoun, where they frequently spent time together, and Alex had decorated a dock with rose petals and candles. He got down on one knee right as the sun was rising, and had his photographer friend there who captured the moment. Conveniently, Alex's family was in town, and the Clark's had invited the Hintz's over for dinner that night. Alex and Mel went out to brunch after they got engaged, and spent the day with their family, not telling anyone that they were engaged. They arrived at dinner, and their families had planned a surprise engagement party. Even Mel's sister Natalie had flown in to celebrate with them!
