Last week Governor Cuomo announced that most of the remaining covid-19 restrictions will become optional for businesses like our venue once 70% of New Yorkers aged 18 or older have received at least 1 dose of a vaccine. As of today, we are at 70.0% and that means we no longer need to operate with any capacity or social distancing restrictions. The only rule remaining at this point in time is the mask mandate for unvaccinated individuals. As a reminder, NY State is adhering to the CDC mask guidelines which state that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear a mask inside or outside. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated do not need to wear a mask outside but must continue to wear a mask inside, unless seated. We will rely on each individual guest to do the right thing according to their vaccination status. Updated: June 15
They swiped right on a dating app and met at a dog park in Bethlehem. Melissa claims she gave the algorithm to the dating app when she described her ideal match as tall, dark, handsome, (and bearded) with a nice smile. Steven turned out to be the perfect match. Steven and Melissa quickly fell for each other when they realized their mutual appreciation of good food and drinks, traveling, and their love for their pups, Charly and Thora. Within the first month of dating, Steven and Melissa were inseparable until Melissa moved to Tacoma, WA on a one-year contract for work. Before they knew it, Steven booked his first of many flights in August 2017 to the West Coast. For the first year they met at various locations across the country including Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Washington. They even managed to survive a cross-country trip in a Hyundai Elantra in December 2017. When June 2018 came along, they moved in together with their two pups outside of Harrisburg, PA and lived there until November 2019. Just a few days before they closed on a home outside Carlisle, PA, Steven proposed.
Steven surprised Melissa with tickets to a Luke Combs concert in Philadelphia on Thursday, November 21st. On the morning of Friday, November 22nd, Steven wasn't himself and was not paying attention to Melissa's long-winded story as they walked to brunch. Melissa picked out the brunch spot so she didn't think it was suspicious when Steven suggested they walk into a courtyard near the Pemberton House in Old City, Philadelphia. They were early after all, and that was rare. Steven distracted Melissa by pointing towards the historical charm of the building in front of them and telling her to "Look", a trick that always works. Steven took a look down the cobblestone walkway and saw the future Best Man, Dave Pullis (https://www.davepullis.com/ & @davepullis on Instagram) with his camera ready to capture the magical moment. As Melissa was distracted by intricate architecture, Steven got down on one knee. While they don't remember much of what was said, they do know that through many tears & smiles, Melissa said yes. It was a wonderful moment followed by a professional photo-shoot by the talented Dave Pullis. After pictures, they had celebratory drinks bar-hopping through Old City until Dave had to catch his flight. Steven then brought Melissa to the surprise Airbnb in Rittenhouse Square he had lined up. After getting settled in, they went to dinner at the exquisite Wm. Mulherin's Sons for a joyous dinner. Following dinner, they met with Melissa's sister Meredith & her boyfriend Tomas for drinks at Philadelphia Distilling. Before Melissa and Steven retired to the Airbnb, the quartet stopped into the world-renowned Monk's Cafe for a fine bottle of lambic beer from Brasserie Cantillon. Steven could not have prepped for the big moment without Meredith, the ultimate secret keeper. Over many months and text messages, Meredith was instrumental in helping Steven design Melissa's ring. Her input was greatly appreciated and needed, ultimately helping Steven design the perfect ring.
