We met as random roommates in Pittsburgh at 60 Gregory St. Despite Mel's dads disapproval, she moved into a friend of friends house whom she had only met once with four other guys, think Big Bang Theory. We first met each other when Brian was moving back into the house after being home for the summer. He was doing dishes and chatting with his mom, right away there was a connection. All of Mel's friends said she was crazy when she said she was falling for her roomie just months later. It felt like we knew each other for years. From talking all night long, to getting to know each others friends, fantasy football advice, game of thrones viewing parties, and secretly crushing on each other, we finally realized this wasn't just friendship. We started dating that December and our fairytale began.
Early on before we started dating, we went to the pumpkin patch with a few friends. Mel told Brian we should get a picture together because his mom would like it, but secretly just wanted one. After that Brian's friends started asking who "pumpkin girl" was. It wasn't too long after that we started dating. Every year following that first pumpkin patch pic, we went back to the same orchard and took our "annual pumpkin shot" and Mel would post a collage. A few years later, Brian got an amazing opportunity in NY, so we packed up and moved our lives to the East Coast and had to find a new patch. This was the second year going to Holland Ridge Farms in NJ, and they have a beautiful sunflower field. We were meeting Brian's older brother, Chris, and his girlfriend, Carena, and Mel was worried they were running late since they went to brunch that morning. When they arrived she had no idea a photographer was already there taking pictures as they walked in. Carena, kept Mel distracted by asking her about their recent trip to Italy. As they were walking down the isle of sunflowers they saw a large pumpkin laying in the grass, Mel walked up to it thinking it was huge, saying "did they just say eff it?" (was it too big to carry) That was when Brian said "I think it says something.." As Mel looked to read the pumpkin, Brain was already down on one knee, with the best proposal speech in the world. The photographer popped out of nowhere taking photos. Not too long after that Mel's sister, Lindsey, Brian's Mom, Katie, and his younger brother, Alex, came around the corner as another surprise. Mel's sisters Fiancé, Dan, and their adorable puppy, Lincoln, were there as a surprise too. As if it didn't end there as the best day ever, they drove back home only to find that Chris and Carena had left not to go to a baby shower, but actually went back to set up the whole apartment with roses, balloons, music, and champagne! It was unforgettable!
