Kimmie

Maid of Honor

Melanie: Kimmie is my absolute soulmate in friend version. Kimmie and I met in Mozambique in 2014 and later lived together in Madagascar where we both lived our dream of loving and raising our kids in Madagascar. God just knew. She actually knew Bacar for years before I met him and yeaaaarrrssss ago when Bacar and I first realized we were in love she cried because she knew how good he would be me 😭 Kimmie and I have walked through every season of the last 6-7 years together. She has loved me, supported me, prayed for me, processed with me, cried with me, listened, believed for me, through every moment, every joy and so much loss. The fact that she is in my life is evidence that Jesus is kind. Also Bacar is SUCH a big Kimmie fan. We love her more than words. 🖤🖤🖤

Lauren

Bridesmaid

Melanie: Lauren is the sister-in-law of my dreams! I'm not kidding when I say that their wedding was one of the best days of my life 😂 I am such a fan. Lauren has been a sister and friend to me for many years before she married my brother. She is selfless, supportive, thoughtful and kind towards everyone. I so admire her relationship with my brother for their adventure and fun, but especially their deep friendship. There is nobody better that my brother could have married, for him and for me! I feel so lucky that we get to be family for life!

Gia

Bridesmaid

Melanie: Gia and I also met in Mozambique in 2014, and then lived together for the last 4 years of our time in Madagascar. We have lived our absolute dream together, loving and raising our kids in Madagascar, and our absolute nightmare leaving it behind. And we have loved one another and loved Jesus through it. We kept eachother alive. Gia is so kind and has such a great heart. One of Bacar's American dreams is to become best friends with Troy (Gia's husband) and one of my American dreams is to convince Troy and Bacar to let us live together again 😂

Johnny

Best Man

Bacar: Johnny and I grew up together in Mozambique, and he has been a brother and friend to me for longer than either of us can remember. We share our love of motorcycles, adventure, and traveling though Mozambique. Johnny has always been someone who is driven and dreams big dreams with God, and who is always joking and laughing. Johnny is now living with his wife and baby in America. Johnny has taught me what it means to be a man who pursues his dreams, even when it seems like all is lost. His marriage and the family he has created is an inspiration to me.

Chris

Groomsman

Melanie: Chris is my brother and the BEST one that there is! Chris is funny, smart, kind and the MOST fun! He has been a great brother and a great friend to me throughout years, and has always been really supportive. The best part about coming back to America is being in the same place as he and Lauren, even though the pandemic has made that difficult at times. I cannot wait for he and Bacar to get in the same country and the many, many fun times ahead. I know that their friendship will really blossom over their shared 'unique' sense of fashion full of colors and patterns (if you know, you know).

Manuel

Groomsman

Bacar: Manuel and I also grew up together in Mozambique. We can hardly remember a time that we were not in eachothers lives. We have worked together doing children's programs in Mozambique and I have watched and learned from Manuel as a leader. He is a great friend, husband, and father. He has a humble heart and always has a smile on his face. He has been a great friend and support to Melanie and I through the immigration process, always checking in and calling, answering our questions and offering encouragement. We could not imagine not having him through this last season!
