Chicago Architecture Boat Tours

Chicago Architecture Boat Tours

400 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611

See Chicago’s iconic skyline from the water on a guided boat tour along the Chicago River. Andrew and Mel watched countless tours enter and exit the lake from the balcony of their first apartment together. This is their #1 recommendation and remains one of their favorite ways to experience the city.

The Riverwalk

The Riverwalk

The Riverwalk is a 1.25 mile long pedestrian friendly path located on the south bank of the Chicago River, between Lake Street and Lake Michigan. It provides some of the best views of the city and has plenty of places to relax or grab a drink or bite to eat. Andrew and Mel's favorite spots are The Northman Beer & Cider Garden, City Winery, RPM Seafood, and the steps next to the Clark Street bridge. We encourage guests to explore the riverwalk between the ceremony and reception!

Lakefront Trail

Lakefront Trail

Easily Andrew and Mel's favorite place in Chicago is the Lakefront Trail, which spans 18 miles along the shores of Lake Michigan. It has separated biking and walking/running lanes to accommodate everyone's desired activity and it can be accessed at multiple points from downtown Chicago. Rent a Divvy bike through the Lyft app and pick up & drop off at countless locations throughout the city. Andrew and Mel especially love walking past the harbors to check out the boats and watching beachgoers and picnic-ers at North Ave and Oak St.

The Bean

The Bean

Officially known as Cloud Gate, unofficially known as The Bean, this public art piece in Millennium Park is one of the most famous attractions in Chicago. Make sure you get a selfie in the shiny metallic surface! Or get a birds' eye view from nearby rooftop Cindy's.

Robert's Pizza and Dough Company

Robert's Pizza and Dough Company

465 North McClurg Court, Chicago, IL 60611

If you've never experienced the full-belly joy of deep dish pizza, you must go to Lou Malnati's or Giordano's (Mel is partial to Lou's though). But one of Andrew and Mel's favorite places for a slice is Robert's, located just off the riverwalk and features a lovely outdoor patio and dock seating. Other pizza spots to check out are Pizzeria Portofino, Zarella's, Pizano's, and Gino's East.

Aba

Aba

302 North Green Street, Chicago, IL 60607

Delicious modern Mediterranean set in a beautiful rooftop space in the West Loop neighborhood. Andrew took Mel here for her birthday during one of his early visits to Chicago and they both consider it some of the best meals they've ever had. There are plenty more top-rated restaurants in this neighborhood as well. Andrew and Mel love The Oakville Grill & Cellar, J.P. Graziano's, Au Cheval, Trivoli Tavern, and Sunda New Asian.

Miru

Miru

401 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601

Some of the best sushi in the city, but the views from the terrace of the river, lake, and Navy Pier are reason enough to go. This is a special one for Andrew and Mel.

Classic Chicago Hot Dogs and Italian Beef

Classic Chicago Hot Dogs and Italian Beef

Chicago dogs have become a staple in Andrew's diet and they can be found all over the city. Visit a stand on the lakefront trail or head over to Portillo's downtown or Weiner's Circle in Lincoln Park. Billy Goat Tavern, Mr. Beef (the inspiration of FXs TV show, The Bear), and Al’s also offer plenty of that delicious classic Chicago fare.
