Getting to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands is a trek... and can be confusing! We highly recommend figuring out your travel itinerary, AND booking your accommodations as soon as you confirm your attendance! The island is small and things book up quick! NOTE: If you plan to take the ferry to the island, we recommend arriving the DAY BEFORE the wedding. Ferry delays/missed ferries are common, and we don't want you to miss out on the celebration! *Please reach out to Melanie or Jason if you need help with travel itineraries.

Travel Note

Washington State Ferry

The only way to get to the island (aside by Sea plane) is by taking the *Anacortes-Friday Harbor ferry, leaving from Anacortes, WA*. If you are driving a car/other vehicle on to the ferry, you MUST *make your ferry reservations* for both to and from the island. This is very important as spots on the ferry tend to go quickly. If you are walking on to the ferry, you do NOT need to make a reservation. The ferry is extremely busy in the summer, especially around summer holidays. Ensure that you’ll arrive at the ferry landing at least one hour before your ferry’s scheduled departure.  You can eliminate the ferry issue by parking your car in the long-term parking lot in Anacortes and walk on. That will, however, leave you car-less on San Juan Island so you will need to arrange for alternative transportation during your stay. Reserve your ferry here: https://secureapps.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/reservations/vehicle/SailingSchedule.aspx?cookieCheck=true. ***Ferry reservations for our wedding weekend open on May 3rd at 7AM PST! They book up fast!*** (Pro Tip: Don’t exceed the speed limit anywhere in Anacortes or Friday Harbor– the speed traps are legendary.)

Travel Note

Travel by Sea Plane

Coming to the San Juan Islands by plane is an unforgettable experience. You'll experience some of the most stunning scenery in the world. Keep in mind, small craft travel is not for everyone. Flights are during the daylight and there is limited room for baggage. Flight time is approximately 50 minutes from Seattle and 25 minutes from Bellingham. (There is a landing strip within a 5 minute walk to the venue ceremony grounds!) KENMORE AIR is the one stop shop with plenty options (floatplane/airplane): http://www.kenmoreair.com/. San Juan Airlines offers limited service of the island: http://www.sanjuanairlines.com/. If you choose to arrive via plane, we recommend renting a car on the island. Reservations are a must, so please call below mentioned rental car stations ahead of time.

Flight

Bellingham International Airport

The closest mainland airport to the Anacortes-Friday Harbor Ferry Terminal is the Bellingham International Airport (BLI). BLI is a small airport about a 1 hour drive away from the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.

Flight

Seattle International Airport

Another option for out-of-staters is to explore what Downtown Seattle has to offer as you make your way over to Friday Harbor! We recommend checking out Pike Place Market for the food, souvenirs, and flying fish! Seatac is about 1 hour 50 minutes away (depending on traffic) from the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.
