The venue is at the Simon family home in Encinitas. The neighbor has small dark streets with limited parking. The accessible parking to the house will be reserved for vender and ADA Guest and family members. Ride shares to the wedding are highly encouraged. Ride share is encourage due to limited parking. There is also the La Costa park & ride off La Costa Ave north-east of the 5 freeway. Guest can park and grab a ride share from here. You car will be safe overnight if needed.
If you are coming from the San Diego area, you can grab a ride share or the coaster to Encinitas and ride share from there. I will be sending out introductions to people coming up from the south if you want to split a ride.
Jonny and Meghan are having a child free wedding. We understand that this can feel like a burden to families with children, especially families who are traveling from out of town. However, due to the event space capacity, location (on a dark road with no fencing), and overall personal preference the couple has made this choice thoughtfully. We understand if you will be unable to attend the wedding due to this request.
Dress Code: Summer Formal Dust off your dancing shoes, because we’re asking our guests to go full Summer Formal. The Vides are Mama Mia journeys to the White Lotus. Bright colors, bold patterns, and anything that sparkles. Seriously, sequins are not just welcome—they are highly encouraged. Just wait until you see the Mother of the Bride. For the fellas: Now’s your chance to look like a million bucks. Suits, trousers, button-downs, and jackets are requested. Not that you are expected to wear it all night. Feel free to add a tie, bow tie, even a pocket square or boutonniere if you’re feeling fancy. For the ladies: We already know you're going to bring it and stay on-trend. A stunning dress, jumpsuit, romper, or pantsuit is perfect. This is your cue to serve a fit! A quick heads-up on footwear: The ceremony and dinner will be on a grassy lawn. Stilettos, we love you, but please consider sitting this one out. Chunky heels, wedges, or flats are strongly recommended for your comfort! And for our out-of-town guests, a friendly PSA: September in San Diego is basically a fancy sauna. Opt for light, breathable fabrics like linen, cotton, light wool or seersucker to avoid melting. Finally, a special request for our Southern California friends: We LOVE YOU, but please, no "surf formal." You know exactly what we mean—this is not a Tommy Bahama, clean board-shorts with a new pair of Rainbows occasion.
The answer depends on where you will be staying, what you'd like to do, and how long you plan to be here. San Diego is a large county, and many of the main attractions—such as the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, SeaWorld, and Old Town—are 30 to 40 minutes away from Encinitas, where the events will be held. The airport is also about 30 minutes from Encinitas. Ride-shares are readily available. Once in Encinitas, the beach is within walking distance of most hotels and Airbnbs, and electric bikes are easily rented.
San Diego International Airport. You can rent a car form the airport or you can take a ride share from the airport your lodging.
For our out of towners. Thal and Julie will be hosting a celebration event in Vermont in October. More details to follow.
