Ceremony dress code: suits & boots! Dress warm, we can dress up for the reception! When travelling in Iceland we recommend layers! lightweight woollens a sweater or warm fleece a rainproof coat (and trousers if you have them) Walking shoes or hiking boots are great hat, scarf and gloves. Make sure you check the weather forecast frequently as the weather is known to change suddenly.
Thanks to the Gulf Stream, Iceland isn’t as cold as it sounds. Temperatures are moderate year-round. Average April temperatures are around a high 43° F/ low 33° F in Reykjavík in 2019. Always be prepared for both cold and wet weather at all times of the year. The weather can be extremely changeable. Icelanders often say, "If you don't like the weather, just wait 15 minutes." And always bring a bathing suit, whatever time of the year you visit. A favourite pastime is year-round outdoor swimming in countless geothermally heated pools and lagoons, with a typical temperature of 77-82°F. Here you can find out the average weather when you’re visiting.

All banks exchange currency. Online currency converter. The banks in Reykjavík are usually closed during weekend. You can also change money at the Tourist information in Aðalstræti 2, in the city center, as well as in some hotels. It’s highly doubtful you’ll be anywhere that doesn’t accept international credit cards. Visa and Mastercard are pretty much accepted everywhere, and most vendors accept Amex. If you want to stay on the safe side and bring some cash then I suggest Icelandic Krona. You won’t be able to get those outside Iceland so I suggest you visit a bank at the airport after you land in Iceland.
Service and VAT are invariably included in prices in Iceland and tipping is not required. However, if you are very pleased with the service provided, Icelanders are not offended if they are offered a tip… they love it actually.
Yes! They do carry a variation of Bud, however purchasing alcohol can be very expensive in Iceland. We highly recommend purchasing your alcohol duty-free in the airport. You can also bring up to 24 Budweisers in a checked bag! (Yes, my dad made me ask our wedding planner this...)
On Thursday April 16th the Hoke family is inviting you all on an all-inclusive day-tour of the Golden Circle. This tour is the quintessential introduction to Iceland where you get to experience Iceland’s most awesome waterfall, an erupting Geyser and will get the opportunity to stand between two tectonic plates, all the while learning about Iceland’s rich history from the time of the Vikings to modern times. In addition to the above we’ll soak in the geothermal waters of the Secret Lagoon and enjoy lunch at Friðheimar Organic Tomato Farm. https://fridheimar.is/en This tour will leave from Bus Stop #6 / The Culture House at 9am promptly and will arrive back in the city early evening.
If you arrive very early that same morning you can go to the Geiri Smart Restaurant at the Hilton Canopy Hotel or The Gray Cat for breakfast. Both make wonderful breakfast and are very close to where you’ll be picked up for the tour. If you are coming in on the Flybus we recommend you ask to be dropped off at Bus Stop 7, Tradarkot. - which is right in front of the Canopy Hotel Restaurant - and close to the Grey Cat and Bus Stop 6 from where you will be picked up. The walk from there to Bus Stop #6 only takes 2 minutes.
