Located in Hope on the Chugach National Forest, Palmer creek road is one of the few roads in Alaska that brings you into the alpine. There's good hiking from the top of this road. Also a fun bike ride down the road back to Hope. We have spent alot of time up here over the years hiking, biking, and berry picking. The road is generally in decent shape but not recomended for RV's due to limited turnaround space.
Ride the tram we first met on to the top of Alyeska for easy access to the alpine, and spectacular views of the Turnagain Arm. You can also hike up the North face and ride the tram down if you wish. Down hill Mountain Biking is available Firday- Sunday for the more adventurous. Full Downhill bike packages are available for rent at the Resort and Powder Hound
It's a quick hike from Portage Lake to the bottom of Byron Glacier. This is a great way to see a glacier up close that doesn't take too much time to do.
Great brewery with a great atmosphere and Meg did their logo!
Hop in a Helicopter and fly around in the Chugach Mountains, these mountains hold a very specai place in our hearts.
If you don't happen to see any Moose or Bear while visiting this is the place to go for those animals and more. The Conservation Center is located at the end of the Turnagain Arm in between Girdwood and Hope and is great for all ages.
Owned and operated by friends of ours, you can get up close to picturesque icebergs at Spencer Glacier lake after your scenic train ride on the AK Railroad’s Glacier Discovery Train. View panoramic mountain & glacial landscapes on a 7 mile river float down the pristine Placer River. This trip is one of the most scenic glacier river trips in Alaska.
Another easily accesed trail at the end of the Hope Hwy provides beautiful veiws of the Turnagain Arm. Its about 5 miles to the end of the trail but just as nice to go as far as you wish with several scenic look outs along the way. If youd rather go up than out the Hope Point trail leaves from the same trail head and brings you fairly quickly into the alpine above the town of Hope.
The sea life center is great for kids and adults alike.
Kenai river offers some of the best trout fishing in the state along with scenic vies of the Kenai Mountains. You can access the river from the road or take a raft down.
