It was the luck of "the draw!" Stanford's housing draw, that is. Returning to school after two years of full-time synchronized swimming, Megan was assigned a room in Castaño, a quiet dorm on east campus. Three months later, Will returned from a quarter studying abroad, and moved in a few doors down. Once Will noticed that the cute girl down the hall would usually go to the dorm's common room to study at about 9pm, he found himself there promptly at 8:45 every day. The conversations came easily, the similarities were uncanny (love of dogs and team sports, strong dislike of mushrooms, and east coast childhoods), and the rest is history!
Will and Megan were engaged after almost five years, but the story of their engagement began much earlier. In the fall of 2013, after just 9 months of dating, Will received a message on Facebook from Madison, one of Megan's longtime friends: "I'm not really sure where you and Meg are at, so sorry if this is not relevant. If you ever decide to get married and you want to propose to her, her dream engagement would be in a horse-drawn carriage in NYC in the wintertime. And she wants a peacock feather accented wedding. I told her when we were younger that if she had a serious boyfriend and they might get married, that I would let him know." Though the idea of a proposal was still years away, Will made a mental note (though the peacock-themed wedding has slipped off the radar). Fast forward four years, through college graduations, a year of long-distance, and two years living together. Will and Megan spent Christmas Eve, 2017 in New York City. After a special brunch, Will and Megan bundled up for a chilly, wintery carriage ride in Central Park. Half way through, Will popped the question! After spending the rest of the day in the City, they took the train up to Will's home in Chappaqua to celebrate with both sides of the family.
