How We Met

Meet Cute (Or meet Cupid)

Sean and Megan met through the online dating site OKCupid, both having been convinced to try it by friends. Sean was the first to reach out and Megan was hooked from the first message (which she saved): Sean: Didn't expect to find the movie Die Hard among the list of favorite movies here, and right after Mary Poppins no less. I ran into one of the actors from a Die Hard movie at the airport one time. Have you ever travelled to any place exciting? Sent on 6/25/2014

Our First Date

Two people walk into the wrong coffee shop

Our first date fulfilled the most cliché of online dating requirements - the coffee date. Sean kindly volunteered to do the research - he found a coffee shop located roughly midway between our respective apartments and sent out the address, thus giving Megan time to assess outfit possibilities and request breakdowns of the first impressions conveyed by a cardigan versus no cardigan from various friends. The date was set for mid-morning on a lovely Saturday in July - sunny, but not too hot. Both Sean and Megan left early, shop name and address in hand. Sean plugged the address into his phone and headed north, Megan into her (already technologically irrelevant) GPS and headed south. Both arrived at the address provided, but the shop was no where to be found! Sean arrived first - drove by once, twice, three times to no avail. Finally, he spotted a coffee shop by a different name and, deciding that must be it, wandered in and took a seat. Megan was a few minutes behind and did two laps around the block, but didn't spot the coffee shop. After deciding to park and walk, she spotted the same different coffee shop, but shrugged that off as a coincidence and continued to walk. Two blocks later and dangerously close to being late, she turned around and decided to attempt to causally look into the wrong coffee shop see if anyone looked like Sean. The windows were, of course, ridiculously and unhelpfully tinted, so she decided to walk in and hope for the best. Thankfully, Sean was one of two people in the (wrong) coffee shop. The coffee was terrible, but the company more than made up for it.

The Proposal

Cheers Ever After

Sean proposed on the very last night of our most recent trip to Boston, MA. We were relaxing in the little apartment we rented for the trip, having had a full day of adventures and an early flight to prepare for the next day. Sean announced we should have one final "cheers" to close out our amazing trip. We raised our glasses* and then he proposed! A simple and fun moment to ring in the next phase of our life together (pun intended for Sean, king of puns). *For the beer aficionados - Sean selected Tree House Super Typhoon as our proposal beer
