We met in our 5th period Physical Earth Science class in high school. I was a freshman and he was a senior about to graduate in a couple months. I was minding my own business getting my work done, when he came over and sat on my desk... and refused to move until I gave him my phone number (despite me pretending I didn't hear him ask). We dated for a few months, but the timing just wasn't right. We stayed good friends throughout his time in the Marine Corps and my college years, but it wasn't until January 1, 2017 that we officially started dating again. We both knew that this time was different. Within six months I moved down to Southern California and we had moved in to our first apartment together and after almost a year of dating, Justin popped the question.
Justin, my parents, and I went to the Holiday Member Night at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The aquarium also happened to be the first trip Justin and I took together. After plenty of wine tasting and enjoying the aquarium, the night was coming to an end. We stopped in front of one of the large two story tanks, and Justin had one of the aquarium docent's take a picture of the four of us. Then he handed the phone to my dad so we could get a picture of the two of us. That's when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Everyone around us cheered and congratulated us. It was a great night!
