Wedding Party

Walter Sellars

Groom

Our story together started with a conversation over our mutual love of NC style barbecue and bad dad-rock. From there: a memorable first date, some harrowing moments picking her up from her sorority house (including her Sisters interrogating me), getting our cars towed on the same day, trips to Harbour Island, lots of happy times with friends and family, two cats, and six years together. With Megan, I have the privilege to share my innermost thoughts and feelings. I have an unconditional love for her and look forward to growing and learning together. I cannot wait to see what life brings us!

Bride

Walter and I met almost seven years ago on a very rainy night in Greenville, NC. I remember Walter being one of the most suave men I had ever met. From his knowledge of fine dining, to his traveling, and in the way he carried himself I couldn't help but fall in love with him. Fast forward to today and I still get the same butterflies now that I did then. I cannot wait to marry him and share that special moment with all of you!

As Walter’s youngest brother, I have many fun memories. A particularly funny memory was at the Hurricanes v. NY Rangers Hockey game. It was Game One of the series and a rowdy crowd of Rangers fans were packed to the brim in the arena. The game was close, and as the clock ran out with the score tied up 1-1, you could feel the crowd’s energy levels rising as overtime began. The Canes scored the winning shot in overtime and the arena erupted in a victorious frenzy. Walter and I were going crazy! Walter in his enthusiasm began to jump up and down cheering until his foot missed the ledge and he tumbled on top of an older Rangers fan sitting below us! Mom rushed forward and tried to pull him up by his belt (you can imagine what almost happened), as I pulled him off the shocked and defeated fan. In the end, we helped him up, laughed, went home happy from a big win, and with a great memory!

Over one-hundred Tuesday night dinners, more than ten lake weekends at Lake Norman, five trips to Final Cut, three annual Christmas Dinners, two trips to Harbour Island and countless laughs. It wasn’t hard coming up with amazing memories I’ve had with Megan since we became fast friends six years ago, it was hard narrowing it down to just one. We’ve done so much together, but my favorite memories are our girl chats and Diet Coke runs. The little memories make the biggest impact. She is my partner in crime and the best best friend a girl could ask for. I can’t wait for a lifetime of memories, one being her BIG DAY.

Even as a young kid, I knew my older brother, Walter, knew lots about the world. One of my favorite memories I have that I still laugh about today was on a family trip to Japan a few years ago. While on a museum tour of a Samurai’s neighborhood village in Kanazawa, we stopped at a sword display. The tour guide spoke pretty chopped-up English and was describing how the swords were made. During a pause, Walter brought up the fact that “maybe” they were not actual samurai swords because they were not old enough and made of steel, which wasn't used during that period. The tour guide, in disbelief, walked away to inquire with the museum staff. He came back profusely apologizing and praising Walter for being correct and knowing so much about the history of samurai sword-making. The reaction of the other tourists was hilarious, and I will never forget their faces! I cannot wait to learn more about the world from my big brother and Megan.

Megan and I were introduced by our parents in 1998, who were neighbors in Winston Salem, NC. Megan was born 9 months after me and has been coined my “fake cousin” ever since! Most of my favorite memories with Megan have some association with a large body of water, Jimmy Buffett, food, or cats! After graduating from ECU, Megan and Walter moved to Raleigh and we were once again neighbors. When I think of my favorite recent memory with Megan, one that stands out was when we took the trolly pub downtown Raleigh and bar hopped with her parents and some of those in the wedding party! I will never forget Megan singing and dancing along the way and taking selfies to send to my parents! Megan has always known how to plan an event and I am counting down the days until wedding day! Megan and I have navigated all phases of life together and I am so excited to see her marry the man of her dreams!

It’s hard to pick just one good memory when you grow up with a sister like Megan, from playing guitar hero up late till Mom or Dad came upstairs and told us to go to bed, to making our living room into a fort. Memories continued well past childhood when in college my freshmen year when she would invite me up to ECU. We would walk around the massive tail gate lots at the football game until the game started then she would sneak me into the student section. Megan and I have a lifetime of memories together and it would be difficult for me to just pick one!

One of my favorite memories with Megan is our road trip to Georgia to shop at Final Cut. I was hesitant to join because she told me how many hours she spends digging through clothes at the discount store and I wasn’t sure I was cut out for it. I quickly learned that this place was Megan’s Olympics. She trained for this. She researched. She rolled up with her wagon and bags for us to share and had us first in line when the store opened. No one was more prepared than Megan. She was so good at finding items for others. I’m pretty sure she found almost everything I bought that day. There’s no one else I’d spend 7 hours in one store with.

I first met Walter when I was six years old and he was two, in Harbour Island Bahamas. Despite our age difference, we became fast friends, and I became part of the Sellars family. Growing up with Walter there was never a day that went by that we didn’t entertain one another and find crazy and fun things to do. I was by Walter’s side as a young kid in New York City, a teenager in Miami and now, all grown up in North Carolina. One thing that always stood out to me about Walter is how smart the kid was at such a young age. He and I memorized EVERY Pokémon card, played complicated and long games of Warhammer, and playing Dragon-Ball-Z in the backyard pool. We spent hours in the “Game Room” in Harbour Island beating everyone at every game. One funny summertime memory is locking some bullies in the backyard game “shed” at Old Black Point, CT. The bullies’ moms did not think it was very funny, but Walter and I laughed about it the rest of the summer. I could go on forever because of how many memories we made but I’m most excited for the ones we are about to make as our brotherhood and friendship continues to live on!

Bridesmaid

My favorite memories with Megan begin with big/little reveal night when she introduced Julia and I to Walter and I discovered I was allergic to cats. Spring break 2018 to Harbour Island when we went to Gusty’s almost every night. Then we decided to live together at ECU and there’s so many memories we made that year from movie nights (snacky snack - iykyk), to midnight drives to McDonalds for a coke, to Megan teaching Olive how to give hugs, A LOT of trips to target and TJ maxx just when we got bored, and fun times at formal. Even when we weren’t living together, Megan was always picking me up to do something. I consider Megan my “college mom” and I am so happy I have been a part of her life all these years. I love that we still talk on the phone almost every day!

Walter and I became fast friends in college, where we studied in the same program and ended up in the same classes. There were plenty of long nights staying up studying for exams, working on projects, and doing homework assignments. When not studying we’d be playing games together, spending time on William’s farm shooting, or just hanging out and grabbing food. One of my favorite memories is of Walter running up to some goats that had wandered over to us at the farm and excitedly taking pictures. I recently got to spend the last couple of years living just down the hallway from Walter and Megan and have enjoyed their friendship since moving back from Georgia.

Julia Whelan

Bridesmaid

Megan and I have many memories starting back at ECU, some of my favorites were our crisp Diet Coke runs, the many nights I spent on her couch (probably more than she wanted), target shopping trips and sorority events. More recently my favorite has become our annual beach weekend! From sitting on the beach, shopping, dinners out and late night flounder gigging we always have a good time together. I am forever grateful to have found a lifetime friend like Megan and can’t wait to be a part of her and Walters big day!

William Lamm

Groomsman

I met Walter in college while studying computer science. We bonded over our struggles trudging through the swamp to earn our degrees in comp sci. Walter and I have a lot of common interests that continue to grow our friendship. My fondest memories of Walter are hanging out discussing any topics from guns to gaming to geopolitical issues. If I ever need a friend to go shoot with, I know who to call.

Hannah Melton

Bridesmaid

I would like to say fate has a way of bringing two people together. Hannah and Megan have been circling each other for years without even knowing it. They both attended ECU at the same time, they both dated men in the Comp Sci program, and they have lived almost next door to each other for the last couple of years. All it took was inviting Storm and Hannah on one trip to the Bahamas and they became fast friends. It is a friendship built on Miami Vice's. brown sugar pork, and late nights at Gusty's.

Bridesman

My favorite memories with Megan are always our Pre-Corporate Gathering shenanigans. Since we work together, we have to report to corporate in Charlotte quarterly for a big event. On one such occasion, we decided it would be a great idea to wine tour through the Yadkin valley prior to the event… 4 wineries with Sam (maid of honor) and many bottles of wine later…let’s just say we were both feeling VERY social at dinner with our co workers that night (We snuck Sam into dinner too). To make things better, the next day was spent IN THE WILDERNESS at a corporate retreat (more libations involved - and sleeping in log cabins) which ended in me leaving Megan an epic text thread of how she ‘dissapeared’ and I couldn’t find her (in reality I was the lost one because I was distracted by another co-worker offering whiskey from the rear of his truck). The next day we couldn’t even look at each other without bursting into laughter. Nothing solidifies a friendship like wine, Italian food and nature.

For all the days along the way
