8:30 pm
Kick off the festivities by joining the bride and groom for a drink on the patio of Sidecar in the Warehouse District.
6:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Come early for a glass of champagne prior to ceremony!
6:30 pm - 7:00 pm
There will be a brief ceremony in the courtyard of Court of Two Sisters followed by a second line. Second line parades are a New Orleans tradition. They stem from the African-American tradition of parades lead by a band for private funeral where music was played to celebrate the deceased. It has now become part of the city's wedding tradition. A brass band will lead Meg and Van and all their wedding guests along a short parade throughout the French Quarter. There will be dancing and drinking and celebrating.
7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Get ready for a New Orleans Style Reception! Do not expect your typical seated dinner. Instead the reception will consist of heavy passed items at the start, open action stations and buffets, with emphasis on lots of food options, lots of beverages, and a highly dynamic and social atmosphere that allows our guests to move freely about the restaurant and courtyard. Seating will be left open for guests to choose their own seats and tables. We will have our first dance near the beginning of the reception, opening the dance floor immediately for the guests' enjoyment, and to take full advantage of our beloved band, Flow Tribe.
2:00 pm
Join us for a quintessential NOLA feast -- a crawfish boil!! Crawfish boils are a long-time tradition in Louisiana, rooted in the rich history of the Acadians (or Cajuns, who migrated from French Canada) and the French-speaking African-Caribbeans/Creoles (from Haiti and other islands). We will feast on pounds of crawfish, corn-on-the-cob, potatoes, and Cajun spices that will be boiled onsite. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, things may get messy... but that's the fun!
