The Dane County Farmers' Market is held on the Capitol Square every Saturday from 6:15am to 1:45pm. It is the largest producer-only farmers' market in the county.

The Madison Children's Museum offers hands-on learning experiences for children. The museum has exhibits on history, culture, science, the arts, health, and civic engagement. MCM is open Wednesday–Sunday, 9am–4pm, with free admission each Thursday evening, 4pm–8pm.
