How We Met

Drinks at 8

Brooks and Meg matched on an app, but in true fashion, Meg played hard to get. When plans with family fell through on a Friday night, Meg agreed at the last minute to get drinks at 8. Meg broke her rule of only having one drink on a first date, and stayed for a second round to hear that thick Southern drawl from the cute gentleman wearing a Boston Red Sox hat.

The First Year

Buckhead to Inverness

From Atlanta Braves and United games to food trucks and wine tastings, Meg and Brooks hopped around greater Atlanta getting to know each other better. Then, they made hometown visits to Augusta and Demopolis and squeezed in football weekends at Notre Dame and Auburn. By New Years, the two skipped across the pond to explore Scotland. They are thankful they traveled to see friends and new places before the pandemic.

The Proposal

Phase 6

The couple frequently talked about their dreams of marriage, but Meg was caught off-guard when Brooks got down on one knee. For several weeks, Brooks led Meg to believe that there was a "six phase" process for finding and purchasing the perfect ring. Meg thought they were stuck in phase 4, but little did she know that Brooks had been sneaking around with the ring in his travel bag for over a month. During July 4th weekend at Lake Toxaway, Brooks' plan to propose was nearly foiled by a COVID scare and a 3-hour Hamilton watch party. He's extremely lucky that Meg rolled out of bed before 9 a.m. on their last day of vacation so he could complete phase 6 and ask her to marry him. She said 'yes' on the dock by the water.
