We met close to the end of the first semester of our junior year of college, at a service committee meeting for the engineering honor society (Tau Beta Pi). We took notice of each other and he introduced himself, and I was glad to get a Facebook friend request from him once I got home after. The next meeting, we walked most of the way home together, since we lived off the same main road. It wasn't until we were back from winter break, though, that we realized there might actually be something here. On February 19, 2015 we took hanging out beyond walks home from our shared extracurricular. We went to Chipotle- my pick.
We fell in love in 2015 and by 2020 we had grown up together, gotten our lives in order, and become inexorably intertwined. I think it's fair to say, then, that our engagement was no surprise to either of us. Zach received 100% reliable intel on engagement ring designs (from the source herself), and with both of us working from home I knew he had one the moment it arrived. Still, when Zach suggested a walk on the hot summer day of July 3 I didn't want to be overly confident. Zach insisted we try a new location, and we went to the Acton Arboretum. As we started on our walk, I eyed his pockets. That lump could just be his phone, right? Soon we were deep enough into the woods that we were alone, and Zach suggested we stop. He got down on one knee and you know the rest. Our first attempt at a kiss, we were both still masked. Oops.
