Back in the summer of 2014 when they were still young, idealistic, barely-adult college students, William and Megan ended up both working at Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary for the summer. William was the land manager’s intern and spent the summer battling invasions of honeysuckle, outsmarting carpenter bees, and wrangling goats. Megan was a summer camp counselor attempting to teach kids about nature, and that -although fluffy- trying to pet wild skunks was perhaps not in their best interest. Eventually, there was a week when the campers were strong enough in number that more camp counselors were needed as reinforcements, and William was involuntarily drafted to join the fray. After a few days of awkward hellos and missed greetings, a friendship was forged through the trials of entertaining children in the great outdoors while surviving Nashville summer heat. After the summer ended, Megan and William returned to scholarly pursuits for the fall semester. Well, at least Megan did. William hopped on a plane bound for Australia and New Zealand and spent the fall dancing through life, taking sommelier courses, climbing Mt. Doom, and generally attempting to enter Middle Earth to party with hobbits. Megan, jealous beyond all belief that this counted as higher education as she studied for exams in the dark and dusty basement library at her university, followed his escapades on social media and insisted they should meet up to hear about his experiences upon his return. And the rest is history 😉 They’ve spent the last ten years going on adventures and skipping across the globe, from hiking through the wilderness, to ComicCons and Renaissance festivals, to adopting two mini-house panthers (one that thrives on cuddles; the other thrives on mischief), and to buying a home base from which to plan all the adventures yet to come.
