Megan and Sujoy met when they were 13 years old, volunteering at the same charity. Sujoy had actually become friends with her brother, Nathan, before he met her. From the moment Sujoy saw her he knew she was special, but being 13 and awkward, there was no way he could voice that without tripping over his words. So much so that he would enlist his best friend Logan to help him figure out what to text and how to respond to her texts They lost contact heading into high school until Megan reached out during their junior year. They reconnected, and there were feelings on both sides which led to a couple dates. Teenagers being teenagers they ended up falling out of contact with each other again, but they both had a sense that we were each other's “one that got away”. Life went on Sujoy moved to New York City for college, Megan stayed in Tracy, working and going to school. Then COVID-19 hit. Sujoy came back home for what he thought was going to be two weeks, and ended up being 5 years and counting. In the Summer of 2020, Megan reached out to Sujoy again asking him to look out for her best friend at an event she was going to be speaking at. Soon after, Sujoy made plans for a day trip to San Francisco and Baker Beach with two of his friends, Bryce and Kara, the latter of whom decided to invite Megan without telling Sujoy. And thank god she did. They spent the day together, and looking at her on that beach, on that day, he realized that the feelings he had for her at 16, never went away. Soon enough she came to the same realization. Neither knew how to tell each other exactly, and neither wanted to date because Sujoy was going to have to move away when school reopened. Sujoy asked Megan out, and she said no, saying that she doesn’t want to fall in love with him just for him to end up moving away again. But that didn’t stop them from texting everyday, watching movies together on FaceTime, or staying up until 4 am just talking to each other. At some point they realized they just couldn’t fight their feelings or deny it anymore. So Megan asked him out, and he said no, so they were “even”. She asked him out again, and on July 27th, 2020, they began dating. In 2021, Megan and Sujoy both decided to transfer to Sacramento State, and decided together, while preparing to move, to adopt their dog Griffin on March 6th, 2021. A year and a half later they graduated together from Sacramento State (Stingers up!) in December of 2022. They moved in together in June of 2023, soon after which, Sujoy began to plan the worst kept secret in the world, his proposal to Megan. Then a year after moving in together, on a family vacation to Europe he pulled Megan aside on a hilltop in Lake Como, and asked her to marry him. She nodded yes, said “thank you” and quickly followed that up by asking “Now was that so hard?” And the rest is still unwritten…
