Stephen was out with friends at the Dub (the best karaoke bar on university) when Megan walked in with her roommates. The two had a bunch of mutual friends and were both in the college of engineering, so they eventually crossed paths and hit it off right away. And the rest is history! Here we are nearly 5 years later.
On their 4th year anniversary, they were busy moving that weekend and had agreed not to do anything crazy for their anniversary. Stephen told Megan that they were going to take a break from packing for the night and go out to dinner. He had made a reservation for San Diego restaurant week. On their way he "missed" the freeway exit and rerouted them the back way, which goes by their favorite park in San Diego - also the park Megan’s parents were married at. As they passed it he suggested they should stop to catch the sunset. Megan was not a fan of this idea because she thought they were late for the dinner reservation, but he insisted it would be quick. As they were walking across the grass Megan noticed their families and Fenway, immediately knew what was happening, and started to cry. If you haven't caught on yet - there was no dinner reservation. He proposed, Megan said yes, she cried, they had a moment with their families for hugs, AND THEN Stephen says "hey there are some people over there that want to say congrats too". Cue 20+ of their friends running off of a bus at them with champagne screaming congrats. Megan pretty much blacked out from the shock. And just like that, they went from celebrating their 4 year anniversary to celebrating their engagement with family and friends. It was more perfect than Megan EVER could have imagined.
We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in La Jolla! •
