Yes, the venue is, technically, a 130-year-old dairy barn. That said, it is a barn that is farm animal-free and intended specifically to host weddings, so fear not. It's rustic and fun and casual, cuz we don't like things to be too fancy or stuffy. We want to make sure everyone is relaxed and has a good time. On the note of parking, please plan to arrive early to get parked and settled. There are parking attendants helping to facilitate parking, and there will be golf carts ferrying people back and forth from the ceremony to reception to parking.
It's usually upper 60s to low 70s during the day and mid to high 40s at night, so that means bust out the short sleeves for our Northern friends, and make sure to bring your coat for our Southern friends. (Seriously, though...just plan for layers, and you'll be golden). Also, just fyi, the reception is in an open-air venue, with patio heaters, if needed. Also, weather pending, we're planning on having the ceremony outside.
Okay, probably nobody asked this question, but for your information, YES, there will be karaoke. And there are 250,000 songs to choose from. If you know the bride and groom, you know there is much rejoicing about this.
Absolutely! There will be a photo booth, a number of outdoor games available (cornhole, jenga, etc), and a fire pit area to hang out at. And if you're inclined to take pics or videos of our little soiree, we would love it if you'd tag any social media posts with #ryanandmeganbettertogether, so we can enjoy them too :)
There will wine and beer provided for those who are interested in alcoholic beverages. For those who aren't (or aren't old enough), there will be plenty of non-alcoholic options too! Also, keep in mind that you're probably going to be driving on unfamiliar, curvy roads, so let's all just be responsible, please :)
Soooooooo, since our venue is made primarily of 130 year old wood, combustibles are kind of frowned upon, so as not to create a giant tinderbox filled with all of our friends and family. However, if you do need a smoke break, that is allowed at the fire pit area and only at the fire pit area. And please, please, please dispose of any cigarette butts, etc. responsibly...they're absolutely no fun to try to rake out of grass and gravel before the next event.
We're really going to try to accommodate anything we possibly can. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions on your RSVP, or let one of us know directly, and we'll see what we can do. Buffets and caterers being what they are, we will have to get final details and logistics worked out closer to the event, and we can let you know for sure. But we're absolutely going to do our best to make sure nobody leaves hangry.
