An Independence Pass hotspot; the Grottos and Ice Caves are a short hike from the trailhead parking lot.
Right in Downtown Aspen, Aspen Mountain (Ajax) is hard to miss. Known for skiing, less known for a fun 4x4 drive up to the top. Day passes can also be bought to take the gondola to the top.
Definitely a day trip. Accessed with high clearance vehicles or hike. Beautiful views!

One of our favorite camping spots up Independence Pass. Located several miles in the backcountry, an alpine lake and beautiful trail awaits. Grizzly has a number of camping sites that are first come, first served.
At the top of Crown Mountain, you can find plenty of views and primitive camping spots. A great place just outside of Carbondale and Basalt for a half day hike.
