About Us

Mikey and Megan were both born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia — true hometown sweethearts (eventually). They first crossed paths in preschool at Serendipity, but their paths split when Mikey went on to attend St. Francis Central Catholic School. They reconnected in 7th grade at Suncrest Middle School and graduated together in 2007 from Morgantown High School. Megan noticed Mikey early on, but the timing wasn’t quite right. As she once told her friend Claire, “If Mikey Brennen was single, I’d go for him.” Fast-forward to November 29, 2021, when fate — and Instagram — stepped in. Megan saw that Mikey was finally single and boldly messaged him about his fear of raccoons. It worked. Their first date was on December 9, 2021 — Mikey’s 33rd birthday — and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Today, Megan is a nurse practitioner at WVU Children’s Hospital, caring for the tiniest patients. Mikey works as a security guard at a local chemical plant, keeping things safe with his signature calm and quick wit. What began as a childhood connection has grown into a life full of love, laughter, sports, music, adventures, and plenty of shenanigans — a story they can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!

Our Engagement Story

Some love stories are spontaneous. Ours? It was strategically delayed. For years, Megan wondered when Mikey would finally pop the question. Little did she know… Mikey had it all planned — even during the moments she doubted. He was just waiting for the perfect time, the perfect place, and the perfect way to surprise her. That perfect moment came during our annual Valentine’s Day tradition at Mountain State Brewing Co. Every year, we bundle up and enjoy dinner in one of their cozy igloos — a little winter magic we look forward to. But this year was different. Unbeknownst to Megan, Mikey had secretly enlisted the help of our dear friends, Andrew and Sara Toepfer. They were in on the plan from the start — helping throw Megan completely off the engagement trail while also making sure the moment was beautifully captured in photos and videos. Megan suspected nothing. Between laughter, warm drinks, and Valentine’s Day cheer, Mikey made his move. And just like that — after what felt like forever — he got down on one knee. Total. Shock. Megan was completely surprised (finally!) and overwhelmed in the very best way. And seeing Andrew and Sara there to celebrate, cameras ready and hearts full, made the moment even more special. It was intimate, joyful, and perfectly us. So yes… it may have taken Mikey a little while to propose. But as it turns out, he really did have it all planned. And it was worth the wait.
