The Old Course at St Andrews is the world’s most famous golf course and definitely worth seeing, even if you don’t golf. You can walk across the iconic Swilcan Bridge, stroll along West Sands Beach, or visit the British Golf Museum. If you’re hoping to play the Old Course, tee times are very competitive (you’ll need to enter the daily ballot), but there are several other beautiful courses nearby that are also open to visitors, including the Castle Course, Jubilee Course, New Course, and the 9-hole Balgove Course. For something more casual, there’s also a fun mini golf course in town. Fun fact: on Sundays the course closes to golfers and becomes a public park - you can walk the fairways and take photos. If you go, stop by the Jigger Inn by the 17th hole for a drink - one of our favorite spots.
We’re so excited for you to experience Edinburgh! If you’re flying in, you’ll likely arrive at Edinburgh Airport. From there, it’s about a 1.5-hour drive to St Andrews, or you can take a train from Edinburgh Airport to Leuchars followed by a short taxi ride. If you have time, we highly recommend spending a day (or two!) in Edinburgh. It’s an incredible city with so much history, beautiful views, and great food and drinks.
Fun Fact: Megan was born at the bottom of Loch Lomond in the town Alexandria.
