Lake Tahoe / Truckee is a great summer vacation spot! There are endless trails for hiking and mountain biking. We highly recommend downloading the app "All Trails" before your arrival to find the best local hikes. Truckee is also a short drive to Lake Tahoe where you can go boating, kayaking, or enjoy the day by the beach.

This is a free guided kayaking tour on Lake Tahoe with a state park employee. Its an informational tour (non strenuous paddle) but a great free activity and worth walking around Sugar Pine Point State Park afterwards for beautiful views.
