We’re getting Married!

We met on a dating app called Bumble and scheduled our first date at a local coffee shop called “Alley Cat Cafe” in Fort Collins, CO. Colin was in a master’s program for social work at CSU and Megan had just moved there for a job at CSU veterinary school just months prior. We chatted about our love of adventure, nature, family/friends, animals, and music. Neither of us could end the conversation having the date last for many hours. After our incredible first encounter, we had to see each other again. Our second date was ice skating and dinner. Megan had never gone ice skating before, so Colin was very patient and brought out this giant ice skating helper in the shape of a green dinosaur (for kids haha) to help Megan. She then dragged him down on the ice and they both fell bruised but laughing. Following dates of painting, movies, breweries, and hikes ignited the spark that would last a lifetime. Megan also knew Colin was the one when her Australian Shepherd fur baby (who normally frustratingly disliked Megan’s dates in the past) fell in love with Colin instantly. They also adopted another beagle fur baby named Lloyd in 2022 to join their family. Throughout the years, our relationship has been darn close to perfect but rather perfect in its imperfections. Colin and Megan have been on so many wonderful adventures/travels together throughout the years but also love being homebodies together, have similar goals/temperaments, are a tad obsessed with each other, but also are very independent. We have been through multiple job changes, moves, COVID-19, hospital visits, disagreements, and hardest of all, the passing of Colin’s father in 2018 and Megan’s mother in 2024. However; with all of life’s roller coaster rides, we are each other's best friend, soulmate, and other half- we respect, listen, laugh with, cry with, have weird inside jokes with, and immensely love one another. Megan told Colin once that when she first met him, it was like she knew him her whole life and he felt like home to her. Colin responded that he felt exactly the same. The rest is history!

Written by Colin: After three and a half magical years of dating, countless incredible experiences, and a retreat to the rocky mountains to ponder life, Colin knew the time had come to pop the big question. Colin knew he could not live without Megan Rose Curtis and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. In his heart he knew he would never find someone who showed so much kindness, respect, support, adventerousness, unconditional love, joy, humor and an unyielding passion for life itself. This was the easy part, the hard part was figuring out how to propose to the most incredible person Colin had ever met. The ideas began to flow but each one more outlandish than the next. A fireworks display, in the Great Barrier Reef, on top of Mt. Everest, in space? After a long decision making process, Colin decided on the perfect place to purpose... on top of the highest mountain in Scotland / the UK! This would be the perfect setting for the adventurous, nature loving people that we are and would hopefully be sure to knock her socks off! In the summer of 2023, after a flight to Edinburgh, and a few amazing days road tripping throughout Scotland, Megan and Colin arrived to Fort Williams on 7.16.23 planning to hike Ben Nevis the following day on the 17th. Colin's nerves increased exponentially as the time drew near, practicing his speech in his head as often as possible. If the hike to the summit wasn't difficult enough, the ever increasing nervousness did not cease to stop as the summit came closer. Eventually, with a perfect spot chosen and a break in the clouds revealing the stunning view from the summit, Colin proposed! In the passion of the moment, he does not know if he was able to say everything he had prepared, but he confessed his ever growing love for Megan on top of the summit of Ben Nevis and was met with a resounding yes and embrace from Megan. This will always be one of the happiest moments in Colin's life as he knew he was the luckiest person on Earth to find Megan and begin a life together.
