Megan and I first met in college at Wake Forest University. It’s certainly a cliché to say “we found love in a hopeless place”, but considering it was a fraternity basement I can’t think of a better description. Our initial introduction was something out of a fairy tale, and by that I mean I relentlessly made fun of Megan’s dance moves (but can you blame me? She was doing some weird combination of the robot and Macarena in the middle of a crowded party…). Nonetheless from day one our conversations were effortless and we always enjoyed spending time together. While we met as friends we both knew we had a special connection, but in some respects were afraid to admit it since I was about to graduate and move home while Megan had one year left in college. We continued talking regularly, but it wasn’t until the summer after I graduated that we realized the extent of our connection. Although we were geographically undesirable (GUD) we took the leap and began a relationship knowing it could be years of long distance. That long distance ended up lasting 4 years as Megan moved from North Carolina to Florida, back to North Carolina for PA school prior to moving to Philadelphia. Despite its challenges, long distance only made our relationship stronger and made us more confident that we were meant to be together. It’s also allowed us to cherish our time together these past three years in the same city, culminating in asking her to marry me about a block away from where I told her I loved her for the first time. We are so excited for this day and it means the world to us to have our family and closest friends come to Florida to celebrate our wedding!
