Mother of the Bride
Jonelle is now known by most as Gigi, which is a name she took on when her first grandchild was born. Gigi raised four children and had undivided time for us when we were young. She is creative; she always knows just the gift to buy to make you feel special, big or small. Gigi is the "fun" grandma, often breaking mom's rules and taking the kids on adventures. I learned how to cook with intense flavors from my mom. Some of my best childhood memories were spent with all of us kids sprawled out on the kitchen counter tops while watching her make dinner. A devoted Christian, Gigi holds us accountable and is a voice of reason when you need support the most. Most people describe her as "spunky" and fun. She is also very fashion forward and the best shopping companion!
Father of the Bride
Ricardo, otherwise known to us as Grandpa Rick is an incredibly hardworking man. His work ethic and tenacity was very much instilled in us as children. He is judicious and always keeps his word. My Dad spends time between Coeur d'Alene Idaho and La Cruz Mexico with his companion Paige. An avid outdoorsman, Rick still enjoys hunting by horseback, extended rafting trips down the Northwest's epic rivers and deep sea fishing; we were fortunate to share in the passion for adventure as children. My best memories were spent at our cabin in the Sierras during the winter months. Having a December birthday was a drag - one year he planned a snowmobiling party with six teenage girls; his personal enthusiasm could not be denied by the matching embroidered turtlenecks to commence the weekend.
Mother of the Groom
Pam is the proud mother of myself and Patrick and doting Grandmother to Tyler and Alexander with a little princess on the way. Growing up in a very big family, togetherness and family ties are important to her. She loves to entertain and is very much a more-the-merrier, welcoming host with everything thought through. We never leave without an abundance of our favorite treats neatly packed. Open minded and always learning, Pam is passionate about her career as a teacher and mentor. Pam is always willing to engage in spirited and informed discussions on politics and current events. Inquisitive and adventurous at heart, she is always encouraging of my own explorations. From striking out for California at a young age to meeting me in Peru; her free spirit and spontaneity endures.
Father of the Groom
A thoughtful and gentle soul, Lars was born in the Yosemite Valley; this connection to nature persisted as he continued to thrive in wild places where he felt a sense of inspiration; both professionally and personally. He spent a lifetime being physical, working and exploring the mountains. While a gentle soul, Lars possessed remarkable physicality - this gift was put to work as a logger and land surveyor where he was able to be outside and explore; my own passion for physical work, either inherited or learned - it is in connection with Lars. His profoundly philosophical nature was inspiring; our conversations challenged me to think critically, with an empathetic lens about myself and about the world - a true confidante. Lars passed peacefully in 2013; his presence is greatly missed.
