Will and I met the old fashioned way, online. He was one of the very few who made conversation about details I included on my profile, instead of just saying "hi". We instantly hit it off, talking about "Friends", my favorite TV show, nursing, and our shared love of food. We met in person for lunch at an Indian restaurant, both of us wearing Chacos, our beloved footwear of choice. On the third date, I broke it to Will that I thought we should be "just friends". He responded with a snarky, "Yeah, we'll see". We kept hanging out and texting regularly, keeping things casual, until one day I saw Will driving his Prius with TWO kayaks on top and another girl in his front seat. My stomach dropped, and I knew that being just friends would not work for me anymore. I didn't tell Will right away, but he had never stopped trying to be more than friends, and we easily dove into a relationship. In fact, on July 27 2015, he made our status official on Facebook without even asking me!
Will and I love going to the mountains any chance we can get, and in July we planned a trip to his family's cabin in Linville. I had hoped that Will would propose on this trip, but when he invited friends along on our hike at Elk River Falls I was thrown off course. However, when we got there, Will started acting odd and even suggested we should take a picture - which he never wants to do! I then realized that our friends were there as photographers (and moral support)! Will got down on one knee and the entire event was caught on camera!
