Paul was Megan's second-ever Tinder date. Her opening line was that he had cheekbones like Johnny Depp. It apparently worked, because they talked every day for two weeks before they met for the first time at a coffee shop in Salem, MA. He drove over an hour to meet her there. They had dinner and then took a chilly walk downtown, admiring the sights, getting to know each other, and holding hands for the first time. They shared their first kiss on a bench across from the East India Square fountain, and there was a spark they had never experienced before. After their date, Megan drove Paul to the garage where he parked, and before he left, they had to kiss again. They planned to meet for their second date the very next day. She kept the receipt to their first date, because she knew he was special. For three years they thought their anniversary was on the 12th until she pulled out the receipt when they moved into their new apartment and realized the whole time it had been the 21st. Paul decided they would celebrate both days every year.
After an incredible weekend on the beach, Megan, Paul, and their two friends grabbed a quick lunch before they headed to Paul's parents' house for the 4th. He was acting strange, on his phone a lot, and didn't eat much. They happened to eat at the pizza place right next to the coffee shop they met, and Megan tried to cheer him up by reminding him of that day. When they arrived at his parents' house, he wasn't talking to anyone and Megan called him out on it. They actually had a little spat before going back to the party. Paul went out on the lake to fish for a while, and when he returned, he went straight inside. Megan went to check on him, and after realizing he was fine, stayed inside for a bit while he went out again. When she returned to the party, everyone was staring. They cut the music when she walked down the stairs (because "American Woman" isn't the most romantic song to be proposed to), and Paul called her over by the pool. He kissed her and told her he loved her and then got down on one knee. She was so surprised she took a few steps back. She said yes and kissed him before he could even put the ring on her finger. His dad lit off fireworks. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in the garden!
