Things To Do

We know that you all know how to Google "things to do in Philadelphia" and you'll see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, the Philadelphia Zoo, City Hall, Rittenhouse Square, and of course the Philadelphia Museum of Art (i.e., the location of the Rocky Statue). Here are some suggestion that may not be quite as well known:
Bartram's Garden

Bartram's Garden

5400 Lindbergh Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19143

A hidden gem in West Philly. Colonial American botanist John Bartram founded the garden on his farm in the early 1700s. Great spot for a beautiful stroll with a little history sprinkled in!

Awbury Arboretum

Awbury Arboretum

1 Awbury Road, Philadelphia, PA 19138

Very close to the venue and a beautiful place for some casual exploring. One side is a beautiful arboretum to stroll through, the other is an urban farm complete with goats and chickens!

Schuylkill Banks

Schuylkill Banks

2501 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

A great way to get views of the city while on a nice walk along the water. Connects lots of great spots! Some of our favorite parts are the boardwalk between South Street and Walnut and the area between the Art Museum and the Fairmount Water Works (both worth a visit in themselves)!

Wissahickon Valley Park

Wissahickon Valley Park

Valley Green Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128

The closest place for a true hike! Forbidden Drive is flat and even stroller friendly, while the other trails range from easy winding walks along the creek to challenging climbs to interesting sights!

Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary

2027 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130

Philly has LOTS of Museums and they're all worth a visit. We especially love the Art Museum, the Barnes, and PAFA for more traditional art museums, but if you want something truly unique and fascinating, check out Eastern State... a stabilized ruin you can explore freely while also seeing contemporary art installations and learning about the history of the American prison system.

Penn Museum

Penn Museum

3260 South Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104

Speaking of unique and exciting museums... this one is Meg's workplace, and an absolutely amazing archaeology and anthropology museum. If the weather is nice, grab lunch and sit in the main courtyard by the koi pond.

Old City

Old City

Philadelphia, PA

Your one-stop shop for all Philly history: Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Constitution Center. It's all worth doing, but here are some slightly off the beaten path favorites: Elfreth's Alley (the oldest residential street in America) and the Ben Franklin House (with a very cool outside space before you have to go in the Museum).

Spruce Street Harbor Park

Spruce Street Harbor Park

301 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19106

A total fave for literally all ages day or night! Relax in a hammock, play lawn games, have a beer in a net out over the water, try some local restaurant's specialties, and enjoy great views over the water!

Please Touch Museum

Please Touch Museum

4231 Avenue of the Republic, Philadelphia, PA 19131

A great children's museum for all of those bringing little ones! Aimed at kids 1-7, including four areas specifically designed for children 3 and younger.

The Franklin Institute

The Franklin Institute

222 North 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

The classic Philly science center, great for kids and adults alike. Don't miss old standbys like the giant walk-through heart and the Ben Franklin-inspired electricity exhibit. The current special show was created for the 100-year celebration of The Walt Disney Company and immerses you in your favorite Disney stories.
