How We Met

August, 2011

We first met at a New Student Orientation info session at Penn about — what else? — theater in Philly. We saw each other at various theater events and parties, but lost track of each other as Meg got more involved in a capella that fall. Brandon was even in the audience for Meg's first show, but he was there to support a mutual friend! Finally, we reconnected at the annual December student theater events like Players' 24 Hour Theater and Quadramics' MisQast (much to the chagrin of our friend Dana, Brandon's duet partner for MisQast, Meg still only remembers Brandon onstage that night...) and started getting to know each other that winter.

Our Love Story

February 14, 2012

We shared our first kiss on Valentine's Day, 2012, on the way home from a Penn theater party. Within a few days, we were dating, and celebrated our first official date with a Philly classic — a trip to Reading Terminal Market for cheesesteaks and Bassett's ice cream, followed by a walk down the Avenue of the Arts and a show at the Walnut Street Theater. We've been partners in love and life ever since! Through ups and downs, family celebrations and hard times, semesters abroad in London and Lyon, graduation, a big move to NYC, job searches, protests, a global pandemic, and many, many shows — we found our person. Onstage, offstage, for better or worse: we are our best selves when we are together. On July 5, 2018, we took a walk through campus for old times' sake, and Brandon proposed. Right on the Compass, near the site of our first kiss, Meg joyfully said yes.

The Zoom Wedding

July 5, 2020

You know what they say about the best laid plans. 2020 was a big year for us - just not the way we expected! After COVID hit NYC, we ended up relocating to live with Meg's family in New Hampshire. What started out as a temporary shelter-in-place ended up becoming a real move as we gave up our UES apartment to start saving for our new home in Beacon, NY while we worked remotely! We postponed our October 2020 wedding to keep everyone safe, but we couldn't wait to say I do. We exchanged vows and got legally married in the backyard, with most of our loved ones joining on Zoom. It was a beautiful and joyous day - even if it wasn't the wedding that we'd planned.
