Getting to Hvar, Croatia

Hvar is a small island off the coast of Croatia. There are no airports on the island, so you will need to fly into a nearby city and take a short ferry ride to the island. We suggest that you: Fly from the USA into a major UK/EUR airport and take a connecting flight to Split, Croatia. We recommend flying into London (Heathrow or Gatwick) or Amsterdam. You may also be able to fly directly into Zagreb, Croatia's capital, and connect to Split (only a 45-minute flight). From Split, you can take the ferry to Hvar. The ferry takes about an hour and is the fastest way to get to Hvar. There are two companies that provide ferry services between Split & Hvar, and they typically depart every hour. To book your ferry tickets, use the website ferryhopper.com While Split is the closest and easiest port to reach Hvar, you can also take the ferry from Dubrovnik to Hvar. The ferry ride from Dubrovnik to Hvar is about 3 hours. A great option if you would like to arrive to Croatia early and explore Dubrovnik before our wedding. If you have any specific travel questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us for assistance! Croatia is a very friendly country- most Croatians speak English and are typically more than happy to help with directions/anything else that may come up.

This hotel is beautiful! Adriana is known for its spa and has an indoor pool with an outdoor pool deck. Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort 10 minute walk from town along the stone beach path. They will meet you at your ferry and collect your baggage. This hotel is giant! Located directly on the beach, it also has a large resort-style pool. *note, smoking is allowed at this property, so some areas do smell! Palace Elisabeth A Hvar Heritage Hotel, Palace Elizabeth is breathtaking. Located near hotel Adriana in the harbor. This hotel is definitely the most expensive option. Riva Marina Hotel Located in the harbor, steps away from the ferry. Very nice, recently refurbished! Excellent, central location. *note, this hotel is located next to very busy bars. This hotel is beautiful and quiet while still very central. Beach Bay Hotel is on the beach on the tip of the harbor. Airbnb By far the best way to save and enjoy more bang for your buck is to stay at one of the many apartments that are listed on Airbnb. I have stayed in Airbnbs across Croatia and have always had the best experiences. You can also find beautiful (and affordable!) villas in Hvar on Airbnb. Please note that you will want to stay near the harbor in historic Hvar.
