Daniel and I met as freshmen in college through Liberty's ROTC program. We developed a friendship over two years, and it wasn't until our junior year that we realized we were interested in being something more. Daniel asked me on a date, and later told me that from the beginning of our friendship he always thought "I wish I could date a girl like Sarah," but it took him until our junior year for him to realize that I was the one he wanted to date. We started dating in October, and it didn't take me long after that to know I had found the one.
During the spring of 2020, when everything was shut down due to COVID-19, Daniel and I went for long walks almost daily around Fort Leavenworth to get out of the house and have something to do. These walks were the backdrop of countless conversations about our lives, our relationship, and our dreams for the future. One day, we went for what I thought was a normal walk. When we got to the lake, Daniel stopped and asked me to marry him, and I of course said yes!
Daniel and I will both be graduating in May and commissioning into the U.S. Army as 2nd Lieutenants. While we don't know where the Army is sending us yet, we are confident in the Lord's plan for our lives and excited to tackle the adventure as a team.
As has happened to so many couples in 2020, we now find ourselves making adjustments to our wedding plans. After many conversations and exploring options, we have decided to move our wedding to the Leavenworth Kansas area. We are still working out details, so please stay tuned. While we know this might make it easier for some to attend, it also makes it more difficult for others. We completely understand and we plan to live stream for those that can't be here in person. Stay tuned!!
