The U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) is dedicated to the promotion of the active lifestyle. Since 2006, the USNWC has been promoting access to the outdoors for all levels of participants through its 30+ land and water-based activities, outdoor instruction and certification programs, festivals, races, films, and various outdoor events throughout the year. If you are really enjoying North Carolina and want to be a bit adventurous, you can head to Lake Lure (90 minutes from Charlotte) for some outdoorsy stuff. There is a brand new “glamping” location which will open at the beginning of October. I will note that Asheville is not far (45 minutes) and always must stop for Nick and Abbi when we are in that area.
