Friendship has a lot to do with fate... when Zhongjing was taking acting class she met this lovely, beautiful, smart and talented young lady. They immediately connected as soul sisters. Each time they did a scene together, the stage came to life. They even gave each other nicknames! Laura was given Lady Lala and Z became Lady Ziggy, and the rest was history. They've traveled from NYC to La La Land to see each other perform, and they continue to inspire each other as they dance, sing, act, and live a life of adventure and in the arts.
Kouri Marshall

If you’re wondering who the next POTUS might be, just ask Kouri. Kouri is a political-guru who met Douglas in the Nation’s Capitol with a gathering of Jackson State Alumni over ten years ago. They have been best friends ever since and Kouri travelled to Shanghai with Douglas and Zhongjing for the proposal. He currently resides in Chicago, IL.

Isadora is a beautiful, talented and warm spirited women who loves the sun and is a dancer with ABT. One night, after a very unusual long rehearsal day they decided to sit together alone. After everyone had left, all that could be heard was the echo of their voices in a large and empty dance studio. While sitting in the quite, Z and Isadora talked about their difficulties, dreams and expectations in life. They immediately connected on a very deep emotional level. Since that day, they have been close friends and are always there for one another.
Dustin Gavin

The groom has known Dustin since the mid 80’s and was nearby when Dustin was born, as he is the younger brother of the groom. Dustin has always been recognized as the brains of the family, which is clearly evidenced by his academic pursuits at both Howard and Yale University. Aside from his scholastic involvement, Dustin enjoys the arts, media and can always be found diving into a good book. He currently resides in New Haven, CT.

Not only does Wanyue and Z dance in the same company, she also hails from China. This is Z’s little sister and in the company she’s known as Yue. Yue joined American Ballet Theatre three years ago. Z became her mentor first, then they later became close friends. Due to their strong Chinese background, Yue understands, respects and supports Z. Therefore, they are not just colleagues, they are now officially sisters.

Douglas was only 3 years old when Darron made his entrance into the world as his baby brother. Darron is known as the chill one out of "the Gavin boys." He is a huge fan and graduate of the University of Alabama - Roll Tide, Roll! The grooms baby brother enjoys partaking in fantasy football, jogging and hanging with friends. He currently resides in Charlotte, NC.

Vivi is ZhongJing's cousin who shares the same birthday but different years. They spent a lot of time growing up together and also celebrating their special day together as well. Although she's only one year older she has always been a big sister to Z. Vivi resides in Shanghai.
Armand Silva

Douglas and Armand met while they both were Atmospheric Science interns in Boulder, Colorado in 2006. A few years after the internship, they both ended up living in Washington, D.C. Douglas and Armand are both avid runners and both can be seen regularly participating in long distance races across the United States. Through Armand’s Peruvian background, Douglas credits Armand with his love of Peruvian and tapas styled food. He currently resides in Washington, DC.
