Dear Family & Friends, Welcome to our wedding website! We’re beyond excited to finally celebrate the start of this next chapter in our lives with you. We’ve created this website as a convenient place to share all of the important details with you in the lead up to our wedding on our new date of July 17, 2021. You can also read more about how we met and our proposal story (Josh made it iconic), get to know the people standing by our sides at the altar and learn more about a few of our favorite places around town (because you can't visit Port Clinton without trying Toft's Ice Cream or a perch sandwich, especially during the summer!). Finally, we want to thank you for your ongoing love and support. We can’t wait to share this day with you and look forward to a fun and memorable night spent with all our favorite people. See you at the lake! - Josh & Cheyenne
It was Summer 2016 between our sophomore and junior year of college when we first met. Josh was home from Ashland University visiting friends on Ohio State’s campus, and I was meeting up with my swim teammates. From the moment we said hello, Josh and I both felt an immediate connection. We spent so much of the night talking that our friends were convinced we already knew one another. A short week later, Josh and I went on our first date at Graeter’s Ice Cream in Columbus. With our ice cream quickly melting due to the summer heat but not wanting to part ways so early in the night, we excitedly made plans to continue our date elsewhere. After a short discussion of our favorite places, we landed on grabbing food at Rooster’s where Game 5 of the NBA Championship was playing (*Important Note* Even with how much Josh loves sports — Cleveland sports especially — he was wholeheartedly prepared to miss this Cavs game for our first date. It still makes me smile). Almost five years worth of memories later, and we’ve been by each other’s sides through graduating college, moving all across Ohio — Ashland, Youngstown, Cleveland and Columbus — and postponing our wedding during a global pandemic. Through all this, we couldn't be more excited and ready to take on what the rest of our lives have in store for us as the future Mr. & Mrs. Nixon.
On our one year anniversary, Josh gifted me a hand-braided, leather bracelet he made himself. A silver plaque engraved with “I Love You” was adhered to the top. Over the course of the next year, I wore the bracelet everyday and took it with me everywhere we went. After a little over two years of dating on August 18, 2018, Josh and I took a day trip to Erie, Pennsylvania to go hiking. While we had originally made plans earlier in the week to travel to OhioPyle, the weather took a turn for the worse, and we made a last-minute decision the morning of to visit Erie, PA instead. While on a lakefront hike, Josh asked if I wanted to take a break to sit down on the beach and enjoy the view. I eagerly agreed. After chatting for a couple minutes, Josh questioned how my bracelet was holding up. “It’s getting pretty beat up from all the wear,” I replied upon which he asked if he could see it. I unclasped it from my wrist and handed it over. He observed it contently before swiftly breaking off the silver plaque. As he scraped the glue from the back, I spotted an engraved ’MARRY ME’ that had been hidden all this time. Josh looked at me with a smile and asked if I could read what it said. I nodded my head in awe. Josh got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes!
