It was a fateful day in summer 2022 when both Monica and Anthony found themselves swiping on Bumble. Monica was on a stretch of 28-hour call shifts at the end of her intern year, and Anthony was thinking how his profile looked boring and how he should probably update it soon. Good thing he didn't, because his broadcasting his "emotional availability" was a big draw for Monica, and she swiped right. He debated swiping left on Monica ("is this doctor really going to have time for me?") but decided to keep an open mind to the connection. Unfortunately, Monica didn't do much to correct that assumption when she was too tired to give more impressive of an intro message other than "nice to meet you!" Luckily Anthony took it from there, quickly asked her out, and they had their first date on the patio at Little Havana in Baltimore, where they live. Soon after, Anthony was excitedly texting his friends about "the doctor that speaks three languages" and Monica was telling hers about the "hot tattooed therapist." In an homage to that excellent first date, Anthony and Monica continued to go back to Little Havana every year on our first date anniversary. The restaurant took on even more meaning when Anthony proposed to Monica there on his 32nd birthday. Anyone who knows him knows he REALLY likes his birthday and therefore it was a REALLY big gesture that he was willing to share that day with a big relationship milestone. These two are so excited to get married and settle the multi-year debate on whether having an S at the end of your last name improves it or worsens it. (Spoiler: while they anticipate many negotiations in their marriage, this is not one of them). They can't wait to celebrate with you all!
