Our Story

We had very different ideas when we downloaded the dating app Hinge back in 2019. Christy had decided that she was ready to settle down and was seeking the love of her life. Matt was ... not. But when we met up for our first date, there was an instant connection. Matt - who "wasn't looking for anything serious" - made a bet on our game of pool that the loser had to pick a restaurant for our second date. The next day Christy told all of her friends that she was "Going to Arkansas for Christmas." The months that followed contained many adventures. Matt met Christy's family for the first time at her Nonna's 80th birthday (including making the family photo somehow). We saw the Almost Famous musical showcase in San Diego and picked up the lovely souvenir of bed bugs. We road tripped down the coast of Spain, that trip culminating in a debilitating bout of food poisoning. And Christy did end up making it to Arkansas to celebrate Christmas with the Medlocks. And then came the pandemic. While we had already discussed the possibility of moving in together, the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic accelerated our plans. Christy moved in with Matt and - without having seen the apartment - Christy's Nonna was adamant that it was "too small." It turns out that witchcraft was sage advice as we spent the next year tripping over each other working full-time from a 600 square foot apartment. While that 6th Avenue apartment will always have a special place in our hearts, we were lucky enough to be able to move into a larger apartment afterwards or we may not still be together (just kidding ... sort of). Fast forward a few years and we've built an amazing life together. Our adventures have continued, taking us to pyramids in Mexico, juke joints in Mississippi, glass-blowing studios in Murano, and caverns 1,000+ feet below the surface of the earth in New Mexico! We've been supported by our family, friends, and community in ways that we'll never be able to fully express our gratitude for. And we continue to get better at navigating, supporting each other, and finding humor in our misfortunes, the most recent of which being Christy's appendix trying to take her out. We feel incredibly blessed to have the life that we do together and we couldn't be more excited to continue writing this story with all of you!
