History of The Roosevelt Hotel

The Wedding Website of Maggie Bunzel and Austin Rocker
The Hollywood Roosevelt is a historic landmark that dates back to the Golden Era of Hollywood. Located on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the heart of LA, this iconic hotel and LA institution reflects classic Hollywood in every sense. Built in 1927, the hotel has played host to stars like Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, and Clark Gable. Fast facts about the venue: The notorious Jewish mafia leader Bugsy Siegel fired shots into the wooden beams of the lobby ceiling that remain to this day. There is a network of underground tunnels under the hotel that date back to Prohibition! The historic lobby stairs are where Shirley Temple learned to tap dance! The mirror at the top of the lobby stairs was a gift from JFK to Marilyn Monroe! The hotel was the home of the very first Academy Awards in 1929! The hotel was named after President Theodore Roosevelt and was financed by a group of Hollywood elite: Louis B. Mayer, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and Sid Grauman!
